.....possible that the lads can't focus on work because they're too distracted and laughing hysterically at this thread, like that Beecham's Hot Lemon cop.

My sentiments exactly. I'd say that they've been sitting on that 'major' announcement since January last and they're laughing among themselves as to which one of them will press the send button. In all probability we won't know until about a minute to midnight tomorrow (28th inst).

An "Irish" Class 66 is a 201. CIE/Irish Rail were way ahead of the UK in going for proven GM locos and engines.

Think you have a point there. If Accurascale are producing the class 66 then it's likely that IRM have their sights on the 201.

Maybe it’s Febuary 29th this announcement is coming 😁

Think you're being overly optimistic, 'this major announcement will be posted on February 31st, most likely.

Just one trillion sleeps to go..................

  4. With Accurascale launching their version of the BR class 66 it's certainly intriguing as to what IRM's new major announcement will be. For me, it's down to the 201(new) and the 071.

I received an email from Rails of Sheffield saying that Cavalex are releasing a Class 60, currently at tooling stage. Wonder if anybody else will beat them to the punch.

Wouldn't be surprised if 'they' did, has been known to happen.

On top of that, there's a loss of confidence in those responsible. If they get this wrong, what else can they be trusted with?

    So out with the guillotine!

Wonder if the same applies to someone who says that there's going to be a major announcement 'next month' and that time has almost passed without a whisper.........

Hopefully they make an exception in an effort to cool down the resale market. Locos going for €500 and €600 is a tad bit much.

At those prices I guess the market is ready for a run of new 071s, think they're most peoples' favourite locomotive.

I must confess that I would be happy with a relatively quiet IRM year.

    5. 071 CAD-only announcement in August for a hopeful (but not promised) delivery in 2025.

Have to agree with that statement (in bold) as my budget can only stretch to a set of the class 22,000 this year

Can certainly wait a little while longer for the 071 for as the ICRs tick all of the boxes but, a little something to run with my silvers As would be most welcome.

(re MM188 for £250) not 750 euro so i guess this is a bargain...

Someone who's really desperate will pay that, however, as I always say - the loco is far better than I could ever make by hand and, rather than wait for Murphy Models to produce the next run of 141/181 locomotives, it's available now.

To be honest I have never really been interested in the larger scales. I always considered OO the upper limit but man, that RC live steam really has something. I don't want to know what those locos cost but "several A classes" probably just about covers it. A nice idea for a garden railway some day maybe.

I like the large scale stuff but it certainly costs a pretty penny (1.269738 Euro-cent to be precise). Have seen lots of videos of Gauge 1 stuff and it's very impressive but only something I could ever dream of having plus. Certainly, if I had the money and space that's the stuff I'd go for. Anyway, living in Germany you're in railway model heaven.

7 Restless nights, didn’t The Dubliners write a song about that. Or was that Guinness just talking !

It was the Guinness talking, most likely. No harm in that, you could have worse things talking (my x comes to mind). Speaking of talking, no word from the guys at IRM yet, good chance you'll have lots of Guinness talk before that happens - it's amazing how much you can consume in seven days.

These days my favourite tipple is crushed apple juice, I usually get an attack of gout after I drink one of our excellent malt rich beers 🙄, at least I am still (just about) capable of playing trains.

I like crushed apple juice also. It's produced by Bulmers and it's very tasty.
