Strange looking contraption too. The snowplough seems to be designed to clear left and right of the track and to put in grooves as it does it. It's as if road vehicles are expected along there too.

I think they are merely snow spreaders - designed to clear a path either side of the track, presumably to reduce the chances of it building up on the rails again.
