IrishTrainScenes Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone by any chance had the Belfast - Dublin add on for MSTS? I do have this but it only runs from Dublin - Dundalk and Dundalk - Belfast. This is them here, I believe that they operate from Belfast - Dublin and are also included with Fortwilliam/York Road Depot? Edited July 6, 2023 by IrishTrainScenes Typo Quote
Niles Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Had it back in the day, I can't actually remember if York Road was on it... if I recall the rather flat-fronted 121 was the same freeware model that predated the game. I'll admit I tended to get bored on the longer runs and tended to stick to DART and 80 class suburban scenarios. (Funny, when I first got MSTS itself (21 years ago ) I couldn't actually play it for a longtime as the family computer wasn't powerful enough. Quote
skinner75 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 I came across the page below, but it doesn't appear to have the Belfast-Dublin: https://digital-rails.com/wordpress/2020/09/09/making-tracks-routes/ Quote

I've played a bit of this myself using Open Rails: it covers from York Road to Tara Street. The Navan and Howth branches are present as well, along with North Wall. On a side note - I haven't played it personally but there's also a route that covers GSR-era Kerry available for MSTS: https://tsforum.forumotion.net/t107-the-kerry-railways The same author (Moranb) has also made several Irish routes for Train Simulator Classic - it takes a very long time to download everything and finding all the assets is a large task that I still haven't completed, but I very much enjoy the Dublin to Limerick, Cork, and Tralee route - also featuring Cork suburban lines, the Nenagh branch, and all manner of sidings dotted across the line. I'll link the first part of the download (https://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=35529), but there's six in total. Other available routes include the Edenderry branch, Newmarket branch, Valentia line, and Dublin-Rosslare - which I only discovered today as I was writing this post. All of them are available on UKTS. https://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-search.php?form_exact_author=Moranb 1 Quote
IrishTrainScenes Posted July 7, 2023 Author Posted July 7, 2023 I have both of the routes installed, although they both end at Dundalk. If I go north of Dundalk on Dublin - Dundalk, the route will not load in. The original making tracks website no longer exists so I cannot find it. Quote
Branchline121 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 IIRC there was some sort of executable that checked for the presence of the 'North' programme in the 'South' one's files that could be booted up and would merge the routes, although it has been a while so take that with a bit of salt. Quote
IrishTrainScenes Posted August 17, 2023 Author Posted August 17, 2023 @Branchline121 thanks for the advice. Quote
