Davenport Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Hi all, Just a quick question, the older model bachmann 141/181 is there still sound decorders available does anyone know? I believe the newer MM decorder doesn't work in the bachmann version?? Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted August 17 Posted August 17 (edited) I am open to correction here, but I think that people either used custom LokSound decoders or MM 121 Class decoders for the original run of 141's. There were other options, too, and Bachmann even released their own non-sound decoder, but the previous two seem more common. The new 141 sound decoders should work, if you install a speaker, as the original batch had no factory speakers. They just won't be covered under warranty. EDIT: This is the thread I was thinking of on the original run: https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/topic/1270-141181-class-and-best-bachmann-decoder The original Bachmann non-sound decoder was item 36-554. Davenport Posted August 17 Author Posted August 17 Thanks @DJ Dangerous I'm right in saying that the 181 decorder sounds the same as the 121 645 decorder? Quote

Both are 8-645 engines, so would imagine it’s the same sound file used for both.. However some of the lighting functions may be different to suit the different locos, I don’t have either so don’t have a function card and I don’t think these are published on line anywhere, maybe someone on here can take a pic of them for you 1 Quote
BEANO3005 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 The 121s and 141s were fitted with 567 power units when new and the 181s were fitted with 645s. When the C Class (201)s were rebuilt, they were also fitted with 645s. When the 201 class were withdrawn a lot of power unit swapping went on, right until the demise of the 121/141s overhauls. So depends what era your going to have your loco in. 1 Quote
