Passenger station platform heights in US and Ireland

Hello All,

I am currently building a layout in my garden shed. I'm in the process of completing the scenery for a rural section and will soon be able to start scenicing a passenger through station on the layout. There is one other terminal station on the layout aswell.

I will be running both Irish (CIE) and American (SF, UP, Rio Grande) trains on this layout from various eras but mostly 1940's to 1980's. Obviously I am not modelling any strict prototype scenes, instead I'm aiming to have most of the scenery and industries look to be passable as somewhere in the US or Ireland. A general temperate climate.

Anyway my concern is the 2 passenger stations. US stations typically have very low platforms and Irish ones are raised? Does anyone know of passenger stations in Ireland that had low platforms? Or high ones in the US?

For context I've attached a video of the layout. At the start where the orange A class is is where the through station will be. And later the yellow water bottle marks the position of the Terminal station.

Fairly low platforms were common in parts of Ireland in the early years but by the orange CIE era most had been raised. The older coaches such as the 6-wheelers had two footboards to act as steps for the passengers.

You might have to think about clearances between the trains and the platforms too - would the wider US stock hit a high platform spaced for Irish stock? Maybe you would get away with it with the difference in scale?

Hadn't even considered clearance of US stock! I must remember to test paltform clearance with coach examples from both territories. Thanks Mol
