jhb171achill Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) Mr. Grandson is three, and since he was not far beyond two, knows the difference between a dart, an ICR and a 29. Being of this family, his indoctrination must naturally proceed with diligence…….! I am unsure if Tony Hunter, trading as the “Weee Duck” (yes, three “eee”s), is on IRM, but a shout-out to his superb efforts here. “The Weee Duck” is Tony’s own business which makes Lego kits of all sorts of Northern Ireland specific vehicles - plus these shown. I believe he’s working on an NIR CAF. He does northern fire and ambulance vehicles, and armoured RUC vehicles. Great fun overall; check out weeeduck.co.uk for more. Making up an ICR and a Dart took me most of this evening; I’ll be pleased to see what a (hopefully) fledgling three-year-old railway enthusiast will make of it. It'll distract him, possibly, from wanting to fiddle with delicate stuff at Dugort Harbour, up in the attic! Edited May 21 by jhb171achill 12 Quote
David Holman Posted May 21 Posted May 21 There are some fabulous Lego models out there. At the recent Ashford show, they had an oval layout that hadhe Forth Bridge as the centrepiece. I kid you not. Approximately 7mm scale, I guess the bridge itself was about 7m long and 1.5m high. The oval layout was more like 10m by 4m. If that wasn't impressive enough, there was a vast range of trains available, all made from Lego and very recognisable. Everything from modern diesels to steam outline. A bit of 3D printing was involved for some details, but all essentially Lego. Probably spent more time watching this layout than any other and it was great to see it was mostly younger people involved too. It will be coming to the Chatham Show, in the Historic Dockyard, in July. 2 Quote
Mol_PMB Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I once built a 121 class and Mk3 driving trailer out of Lego, using a scale of 1 block to the foot. The carriage was about 2 feet long and needed a huge quantity of orange bricks! 3 Quote
west_clare_wanderer Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) I love it! This is exactly what model making should be about... Fun! Good to get them hooked early. If your grandson is anything like the 3 year olds in my world, then I think the colourful DART will be just the distraction you need! Edited May 23 by west_clare_wanderer 1 Quote
