Hi there,

I will be taking a 3 day trip to malahide with my family in a couple of weeks, and I wondered if any of you guys knew if the Fry model railway is still open at the castle?

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

Unfortunately it is no longer at Malahide Castle. It's currently dismantled and in storage, along with all the rolling stock.

Awh. I hope they find somewhere to display it soon. Is there anything else in the way of model shops/ railway stuff worth having a look at in malahide?

You could always visit the railway station-a beautiful building....and you might get lucky and catch a Tara mine train thundering past!

Malahide is well worth seeing as it is a classic working example of the glazed polychromatic brickwork used on this stretch of the old GNR(I). Other examples include Dundalk, Navan and Ardee.

Our own Glenderg has also made some beautiful models of this design..

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am going to take a look at the station in hope of seeing an 071 in the new livery, as I have only seen orange or black and silver ones before
