Picked up this little guy today :

Body is in excellent but looks like it hasnt been run in a while, wheels really need a clean and motor not running very well so probably needs to be stripped down.

Anyone have experience on how these handle a DCC chip being put in (plenty of room in the body and I'm happy enough with the connections needed etc)

You need to get the motor running well on DC before you install a chip.

Yes, agree that was the plan - wont go near it with a DCC chip until its running OK on DC

I have a couple of Lima locos that I have fitted DCC to and they run like a dream the only down side is they are noisy compared to more modern DCC ready locos.

215 on the right hand side is the original one, roof exhausts and black roof panel

Centre is Murphys 015,

Left hand one is another Lima issue. no roof exhausts IR logo smaller than the Murphy issue on the sides, and no running number
