Track Geometry

Question

Im thinking of getting some Hornby express points (R8077 & R8078), but I had a look at them using anyrail. They have an odd geometry length that dont appear to fit in with standard lengths (i,e R600 or R601). They can be brought back to regular joint spacings using a couple of R610, which I dont like (more joints). Aside from cutting track, am I missing a trick here?

Hi Alan. Yes at 245mm long it seems these are designed to be used with some Hornby custom flexitrack cut to length. I haven't used set track myself for a while so could be wrong. Noel

I don't use this but is the spacing between tracks correct?

If not it may be that they are not intended to be fitted directly to each other but with a small piece of joiner track that will set them up better with the lengths on the mainlines

thanks for the replays guys. Dive, when joined to form a crossover, the parallel tracks are correct at 67mm apart, which is the modular dimension that hornby use. Its the length of the straight part, just seems odd.
