Railer Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Just noticed this morning as 8101 passed by that is had metal frame along the top door level all the way around it. It's trailer counterpart 8301 does not have this or another other 8100 class unit that I can see. Anyone know what it is or why only on coach has this.
Railer Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 Inside or out? Its outside, steel frame, looks like ceiling grid for a suspended ceiling in an office block but it's a single length. It stands out as it's not painted.
hurricanemk1c Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 There's nothing on recent photos, but could just be the standard door guides at the top having been replaced but not painted. Without a shot of it, I can't tell
Railer Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 I'll try and get some photos of it. I noticed it early one morning about a month ago but it was dark and thought I was seeing things but I saw it clearly this morning as it was leaving Fairview depot.
Railer Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 I've found out that the modification is for catching the dirt like a gutter system that comes from the pantograph rubbing against the OHLE and helps keeping the units clean. The 8500s have them fitted as standard.
