Status of 80 class

What are the plans for the 80 class at this point in time and what units are going to be preserved.;););););););)

One more season of Sandite (from all accounts) and after that, rumours of one being preserved but I haven't seen anything offical yet

Nothing official exists as such, however, there are outline plans in hand for a two car unit to go to the DCDR. It is likely to be funded by a source outside the DCDR but based there, like all the ITG stuff.

 

This is not to say it will happen; but it might if some things go according to plan.

The issue arose many years ago, but at the time there was no way under the sun that the DCDR could afford it, hence the appeal.

The 4 car Sandite set is back in its usual place after some TLC last week in York Road works to help it through its last Sandite season. There are 2 Power cars spare in York Road and Ballymena and a Driving Trailer still around.
