  1. Love the container flats! Layout's really coming together now!

    Rpsi

Good to hear RPSI are restoring mk2ds. Didn't know that here's a pic of one at Whitehead
  3. Put another one up there now. http://s1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/201bhoy/?action=view&current=locos.jpg#!oZZ2QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1250.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fhh533%2F201bhoy%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3Dlocos-1.jpg I should be at the show on Saturday so yous can take a look then, as I know the photos are pretty poor quality I'd accept £100 for the two of them, but if you don't they're worth that much then you can offer lower and I'll see if it's worth it! I haven't seen too many rs-lls up for less than 100 dollars on ebay yet.
  4. yeah I did that...
  5. I tried to put a couple more on but they didn't work... the wee upload bar kept filling up, but there was no green tick and it just froze
  6. Sorry Lads, I've been so busy I forgot to take photos! Here are some now
  7. Yeah sorry if I forced that plan on you! Just seeing what I could make out of that space, but it's entirely up to you and if you do like the look of it you can build something like it!
  8. My idea would be somewhere on the Cross-Border Line, in the mid 90s! At that time, there was a huge variety of stock. For the enterprise alone, you could have DD sets, 201s in IE livery with mk2s, 111s with NIR mk2s or 201s with mk3s push-pulls. You could have some commuter stock, for example, mk3 push-pulls, cravens and arrow units that you were asking about you could still have plenty of freight too. Waterford-Derry timber trains, fertiliser, guiness liners, Bell liners (I think!) and cement bubbles could all still be seen on the line at the time, and could be hauled by 201s, 071s, 141s or 121s 111s would also make a nice change of scene to the IE orange! If you were going to going to model it on somewhere prototypical, Drogheda would be good, as you could also incorporate the Tara mines trains (and possibly the Boyne viaduct!), and if not, then somewhere close to the border would be good. You could have a small loco depot that would locos from the other side of the border and refueling point, some carriage sidings, a cement silo and maybe a container yard if you want! I did my own plan for the craic, and I think it has a lot of potential A cement silo, some commuter platforms, and mainline platform capable of holding a 201 and 7 mk3 or mk2s, and a loco depot. But it's obviously up to you and depends of your style and taste! You could have a scenic break just above the cement silo with a road bridge or something. I used anyrail's 50-piece free demo for the plan btw
  9. Beautiful! If you get the time, could you put up some pictures on the freight yard?
  10. I hope it isn't, I'm getting it for Christmas!
  11. Excellent! Am I right in thinking that you couldn't do that with the 201s or 141s?
  12. Got some containers off Glenderg yesterday and just made a kind of backscene with them today... beautiful! I know this isn't really to do with the layout but they will feature a lot and I wasn't sure where to put this. Sorry about about poor camera quality, doesn't really do them justice!
  13. That would be class... liner trains to Foynes would have to feature on my layout!
  14. That's good then. I saw this 6'3 guy who looked like you, but I didn't want to say hello in case it wasn't you! Would've been a bit awkward.
  15. Found this pretty good video on youtube about freight in Ireland
  16. I think it was 206 anyway! I was a bit bleary eyed at that time of the morning but I saw two locos, both in original enterprise livery with no full yellow ends or anything like that, sitting at the end of platform 1. I definitely remember 230 being there, but I thought it was the other one that had failed as it had the tail lights on at the back.
  17. 206 must've failed on Friday morning or Thursday night as it was sitting at the end platform 1 with 230 with tail lights on in Connolly when I got off the first enterprise train. Which itself incidentally broke down, and we were all transferred to a CAF set instead at Central!
  18. Yeah great news! What happened to Real Irish train photos, Sean clancy's one or Helskitchen? All great resources gone!
  19. I'll second that about Richie! Unfortunately I didn't get to the show today, but on way from Galway to Belfast I collected my containers off him. Just opened them there now... STUNNING! No 071s for me yet unfortunately also, Anto, was that you I saw walking off the enterprise that came into Connolly about half 3?
  20. Oh yeah, I remember seeing the ammonia trains going by in Connolly now you say it. I've just never seen a 201 in Rosslare though...
  21. Were there ever 201s on the line, or were there weight restrictions?
  22. Looking forward to it! Should be brilliant! Although, I did love the time when the locos were in the process of being repainted, variety was best then! I think I'll be doing my layout in that period. But looking back... Lots more container trains, Guinness liner trains, bulk cement, ammonia (a bit further back!), sugar beet, oil trains... remind me of anything else!
  23. I know! I always loved the orange IE livery when i was very small. I used to love when the enterprise was made up of a 201 and mk2s on Sunday! And way more recently, freight has declined so much too
  24. Yes Rich! Also get videos and photos of it with the 201s in the shed! It'll remind of those better times!
  25. Well acme are a pretty well known company with a good reputation... I've never been dissapointed with any of their goods!
