  1. Ahhh shoot. The world has gone to bits with H&S. Don't get me wrong it is needed but at times it is way over the top with stuff. If anyone sees a nutjob in any of the enterprise stops running round with a tape measure and a meter ruler, it isn't me
  2. Thank you! It was my brothers part of the layout, I'll be tidying it up soon and so should hopefully have more photos of it soon
  3. Hi all, Does anyone work/know anyone that works in either; Translink York Road Depot Inchicore (or wherever the southern registered De Dietrich rolling stock are kept/serviced) I'm trying to organise a visit so that I can get the finer details finalised on my De Dietrich stock that I'm designing. I have contacted both Irish Rail and Translink but neither have responded. I was hoping someone on here knows someone that could help me with organising this. As an ex-engineering student I would be happy to say it's for a project or looking at potentially putting in my CV if that helps. Thanks
  4. Thank you! I have cut out access wells that slot into place and will have scenic bits covering the cuts The photos should hopefully be fixed now
  5. Here's some recent photos of the layout, now with finalised mainline layout. I extended out 30 cm from the main board to allow for the outer curve to be Radius 5 to accommodate some of my longer American freight cars that I have. This, paired with the idea of the heritage line, lead me to add a second level crossing (which needs raised in the centre to smooth the gap between the two), and space on the far left beside the workshops for more storage lines and space on the right hand side for a permanent way depot/siding for ballast wagons and work vehicles. I designed my own super elevation pieces to allow the track to have a more modern and realistic feel to it! I'm flat out in work over the next while but now that I have sorted my locomotives and rolling stock into storage, I can now work freely underneath the board, which shall hopefully ease and speed up the electrical work. I'm hoping to extend into the control area further soon, allowing me to finalise the river layout and design. I need to fit point motors then I can ballast, but if anyone has any ideas on what I can work on scenicly before then that would be great! If you haven't already, go take a look at my youtube channel, Woodgate Junction, which has a recent video talking through the future of the layout as well as the recent works. Any advice, pointers, chit-chat or replies to what you think of the layout so far is greatly appreciated! Helps me to improve the ideas I have!
  6. Thank you!!
  7. How do I get access to the flickr please?7
  8. And so, just like that, they are finished. this post concludes V1 of the De Dietrich carriages, with the paints matching virtually perfectly with the actual models. I am aware that the paint is blotched and terrible in most areas, this was a fired together finish to the project as this run was simply to check measurements and colours in real life. thank you all so much for the support! I shall progress on with V2, a much more refined and detailed version, so watch this space! I may sell some V1 carriages as kits/bare shells to help fund the V2, which I hope to be able to sell more confidently and with more pride! IMG_8239.mov
  9. More photos to keep the attention of the viewers. Keep an eye out tomorrow, might have some good content to share
  10. Working on wiring recently, finally got the town centre lights up and going. Keeping pushing on with the work IMG_7935.mov
  11. Following on, the carriages were retaped and then given final coats of silver, hopefully going to have the green and yellow parts finished tomorrow or Sunday
  12. Work has continued with spraying the carriages recently. They have been sprayed with another layer of the silver, which I have now ran out of, so I moved on to figuring out the under carriage and roof colours. Judging by the lid colour I started with Tamiya German Grey, however it dried a brighter Bluey grey than I had anticipated. A coat of Tamiya Dark Iron brought it closer to the desired colour. Tomorrow shall see me head to Eire Hobbies in Dundalk in the quest for more paints in the hope of finalising this batch. Thanks all for the support so far! Hopefully have more definitive results soon! Note the DVT on the right, with two coats of the dark iron bringing it closer to the colour of the locomotive roof
  13. I was thinking of doing that as I have two models of 077, but that’s why I wanted to ask first and see was I shooting myself in the foot if they were really popular. Id rather keep it pristine and do a trade for some 071 that I can use as a donor if people are looking for 077, means it’s a win win for both parties
  14. Hi everyone, don’t know if it’s a general observation or if there is something to it but noticed 077 seems to be an extremely sought after model. Is there a reason behind it or have I just noticed a completely irrelevant trend?
  15. I saw this coincidentally as soon as it was posted, could’ve cried when I saw there was no ‘make offer’ button
  16. I second this! Preferably ballast ploughs first if anyone has them lying around or finds some down the back of the sofa
  17. Hi Darius, Thats a good idea cheers! I’m just used to measuring stuff out myself, don’t like hassling people too much with fiddly/tinkering measurements. On the back of that, if anyone has any of the models listed above or anything Irish drop me a message please! Many thanks!!!!! Especially the plough vans! They’re like hens teeth
  18. (I’ve just realised it’s April fools, this is not a joke post)
  19. Hi everyone. Hope this post is allowed and not sounding too crazy (can’t sleep so thought I’d make something useful of the time spent awake). Would anyone be happy to meet up on Monday/Tuesday (maybe Wednesday depending on work schedules) with some models that I’d love to get measurements of that don’t appear on normal drawings and the like. I’ll attach a photo with a list of the sort of stock I’d be thinking of, as well as the de Dietrich carriages, but if you have anything Irish and fancy a chat I’d be more than happy to meet. I’m in Newry but would be happy to meet in Belfast or Dublin if that suits. many thanks!!
  20. Work has continued on Woodgate junction since the last post. A track plan rework aswell as an extension to the main board are but a few of the recent ‘permanent way’ works. I am currently in the middle of reorganising the logistical parts of the layout ie storage etc, so I will upload more up to date image once everything is cleaned and tidied
  21. Been a busy few months with work, however I have printed a full (although not completely serviceable) rake of carriages, which I have now primed and given the base layer of silver. I will clear out the window areas so that I can have these as static/display attempts. I will paint them up fully to check the paint colours are all correct and record the ratios of mixes I need to speed up the prototype 2s which are in the CAD/engineering trial phase
  22. Aye, All the stock seems to have just appeared. Kind of pricey but lots of it which is good to see! Hopefully get myself something nice if I don’t find anything in Bangor on Saturday
  23. Winner! I’m hoping to get an order off him! I’m sure he’s flat out in work, gives more time to save to be able to get more goodies!!
  24. Thank you! Yep! My new one can print them horizontally or vertically whereas the previous printer could only print them diagonally, leading to all the jagged lines shown in the earlier photos. This means that after printing the new ones there is very little needing done to them before priming. The prints also feel a lot sturdier and use a lot less filament which is great!
  25. Santa was very good to me! New 3D printer arrived before Christmas, so I had to do a few ‘test’ prints. Some of these were already printed on my other printed, hence there’s a few parts missing, so I just prepped them all and primed them. Hopefully get testing my airbrush and the colours within the next few weeks
