I think you are probably referring to Barnagh but this station was still open to goods in 1963 and the above photos have a footbridge indicating that it had at one time a passing loop. This was Barnagh I'm thinking its somewhere in County Cork and an early closure too.

CDRJC at Strabane, 3 views all 15 May 1959. Last view is another on either the Kingscourt or Oldcastle branches June 1963. That dead end short siding reminds of somewhere (Dunboyne) on the Clonsilla to Navan section. ACTUALLY AT MOUNTMELLICK.

I have views of 9 and sister 10 on flickr. They differed from the other Hill of Howth cars in that the entrance/exits were both on the same side of the car. You can see how easy it would be to remove the panels etc surrounding the upper deck probably done to facilitate storage or reduce the height whilst being transported on the road vehicle. The first cars Numbers 1 to 8 were built by Brush whilst the last 2 nos. 9 and 10 were built by Milnes and had different trucks and originally open sided lower decks which didn't work to well up on the hill. The lower decks were thus later glazed.

Its approx 18 miles from Limerick Junction to Killonan , the last approx4 miles to Limerick City are still double track.

The train would still have had to reverse at Enniskillen when coming off the SLNCR because the connection to the GNRI connected with the dead end exchange sidings and not the running line and therefore no direct route.

My long-time mate Dave Ford who I made many railway expeditions with and exhibited layouts with from the start of the 1980's until 'Anno Domini' caught up with us, has a photographic Archive (DaveF) on RMWEB similar to mine on Flickr. We both started uploading on RMWEB prior to 2009 but I switched to Flickr around about 2012 after the demise of fotopic. Dave's RMWEB stats are quite impressive, over 8700 posts, 21272 replies and probably 20000 + photos uploaded. No Irish though. He is now faced with re-uploading images from June 2021 because of their problems. Although I have over 20,000 UK images on Flickr, I gave up on uploading to RMWEB as it became too time-consuming plus images were 'snipped' and occasionally appeared elsewhere on the Net. The lack of exposure on RM hasn't affected the popularity of the Flickr Archive with hits now approaching 50 Million and 1500+ followers. The adverts get on my wick but then so do the ones on the TV which I invariably mute!
