Its at Dingwall probably taken after the Dornoch branch closed. 2 16xx panniers 1646 & 1649 were transferred to Helmsdale to work the Dornoch branch which had very restricted weight/axle loading after the last Highland Railway tank 55053 broke an axle and there was nothing else light enough to work the line. The 16xx tanks were almost new having been built in BR days. Back to Ireland now! CIE 1958-09-11 Galway station G2 654 The last 2 are at Castlefinn on the Donegal. CDRJC 1959-12-04 Castlefinn 10.45 Stranorlar- Strabane 'Erne' (6) CDRJC 1959-12-04 Castlefinn 11.10am Strabane-Killybegs (10)

I succeeded at the weekend in successfully bidding for the late Roy Dennison's Irish colour slides to go with the 200 odd negatives of his I acquired some 3 months ago. I will put these 7 on as one upload as they show the sequence at Ballinascarthy of the last regular steam working on the old CBSC (excluding Albert Quay) and the last beet train off the T&C. These CB&SCR slides appeared in Reflections and Reminiscences of the Railways West Cork published privately some years ago but the images were very small now you can enjoy them to the full! Other slides acquired include County Donegal, Valentia Island, Fenit, West Clare and many others. CBSCh 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy 552 arriving on beet from Courtmacsherry line 008 CBSCi 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy C233 uncouples off the goods from Cork 003 CBSCj 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy C233 couples on 552's beet train off Courtmacsherry whilst 552 picks up the wagons from Cork and pulls them onto the Clonakilty line 004 CBSCk 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy C233 takes the beet wagons into the platform for Clonakilty Jc 006 CBSCl 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy C233 departs for Clonakilty Jc with the beet wagons 005 CBSCj 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy C233 departs for Clonakilty Jc with the beet wagons CBSCn 1961-01-13 Ballinascarthy. 552 reverses into the platform to take water with the goods from Cork 007

Normal service hopefully now resumed. First view is at Ennis but at the less photographed Limerick end of the station 1958 or 1959 I have also a fair number of new Cavan & Leitrim views so have uploaded half a dozen to flickr today including this rather different image taken from up a pole at the north end so hopefully some new details of the infrastructure. The third view is of the old carriage shed sidings dumping ground but with a distant view of the rear of the loco shed/works.

Thanks Jim, got home late last night . The one bright spot of the last week was the discovery that Rake Lane Hospital at North Shields actually provide a full cooked breakfast for patients! -
