  1. AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH, NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Views taken by the late Alex Ford , now part of the Transport Library Archive today. As well as some Cavan & Leitrim images on flickr today here are 3 others. AF0006 GNRI Bundoran 'P' 25 1July1950 AF0031 CIE Dromod J19 594 30June1950 AF0014 CIE Sligo J26 562 2July1950
  3. Merry Christmas everyone! Its the calm before the storm here so I have added a number of views to flickr. Here's a taster. z023 CIE 1959-03-15 Dublin Harcourt Street z024 CIE 1959-03-15 Dublin Harcourt Street CIE 1962-xx-xxca ex GNR Dublin Connolly yards T2 No 3 CDRJC 1960-06-xx Killybegs
  4. z031 CDRJC 1959-05-15 Stranorlar. Even at this late date plenty of fresh white paint in evidence! z037 CIE 1959-05-18 Claremorris 590 z030 CDRJC 1959-05-15 Stranorlar, I hadn't noticed the separate loading platforms for the goods shed doorways before.

  6. Mainly barrels and crates in the vans. Here is a rake of vans alongside one of the loading (or unloading) platforms.
  7. Guinness Brewery 27 June 1950 & the SLNCR at Manorhamilton 1 July 1950 today , Alex Ford photographer.
  8. Locos changed at Sligo Quay where the Sligo & Donegal Junction connects to the rest of CIE, and trains have to reverse direction. Swopping locos meant they didn't have to run back up to the shed to turn the loco.
  9. I have started constructing the station buildings for Four Masters but unfortunately having run out of Mek Pak attempted to use Liquid Poly which stinks so having put away the parts have now switched to forming the hillside behind the station. The NHS have thoughtfully supplied the framework although I don't think they had this down as a pre-requisite.
  10. Some wagons arrived from John Mayner in New Zealand today; I wasn't expecting these until next year! There has been some progress on Four Masters station but havn't much energy at the moment and its a bit nippy in the loft.
  11. z0853 CIE 1958-05-31 Sallins GNRI 1967-03-04 Belfast GVS 117 GNRI 1967-06-07 Dundalk B153
  12. Its a different locomotive from that in my shot. I have had a quick scan through the Smugmug collection but don't recognise any of the views. Some of the research is a bit suspect especially photo no 210 which is said to be J15 255 on the Kerry branch. Well yes it is the Kerry branch but its actually the Van & Kerry branch in Mid Wales and the locomotive appears to be a GWR Dean Goods or ex Cambrian 0-6-0.
  13. Here's a substitute jhb a recently acquired negative showing the Driver and his dog posing for the photographer ca 1958/9 at Dunsandle. I think the photographer was probably Roy Denison
  14. I've sorted out the Alex Ford images where I cocked up the file size so will eventually replace the small files already uploaded. 4 images today, 2 from Alex Ford/Transport Library and 2 from Roy Denison negs. AF0103 CIE Dublin, Tara St. J15 172 27June 1950 AF0105 CIE Dublin Tara Street, Class F1 438 27June 1950 z122 CIE 1958-1959 ca Ballingrane z120 CIE 1958-1959 ca Adare

  16. More from the Alex Ford/The Transport Library today, due to a cock up er technical error some of the file sizes are not very large. If anyone actually orders a scan or print from the Library please mention my name as it would facilitate me getting my hands on other Irish material hidden away in their Archives. AF0061 Harcourt St Dublin D10 310 27June50 AF0122 SLNC Sligo Goods branch 'Lurganboy' 3 July 1950 AF0130 SLNC Sligo 'Enniskillen' 3July1950
  17. Three more Roy Denison views today, this time on the CB&SC. First view shows 2 x 6 wheelers attached to the Bantry railcar at Albert Quay. Apparently these were detached at Drimoleague and added to the branch train to Baltimore (2nd view). They returned the next day via Drimoleague and then behind the railcar. 3rd Photo at Clonakilty Junction June 1958.
  18. Mine is made by Dart Castings, 2 separate models of a donkey and what is described as a Farm dung cart I think. The cart is 8 castings and you could just leave off the body if you wanted to model the 'flatbed' version as at Valencia.
  19. A fair amount of negatives etc arrived whilst I was sampling Hospital hospitality and I am gradually working through them. There are approx 180 negs taken by the Roy Dennison and the CDRJC slides may also have been his work. CDRJC 1960-06-xx Barnesmore Gap CDRJC 1960-06-xx Strabane, these 2 post closure but before track lifting etc completed. CIE 1958-06-03 Valencia Harbour - I've acquired a donkey and cart for Glengarriff - just needs painting!
  20. 3 from the late Alex Ford/Transport Library today. AF0142 Limerick Class D2,322 5July1950 AF1501 CIE Mullingar G2 666 30June1950 AF1500 CIE Bray G2 657 29June1950

  22. I went on faecesbook and there are actually 2 Groups with the same name, Omagh GNR(i) Railway Archive https://www.facebook.com/groups/806045683680361 This is a private group with 189 members. Johny Alexander is an Admin Do you know Johny Tony https://www.facebook.com/groups/158990799524527 This is the public group with 69 members that Wilson is Admin for
  23. OK Jim 3 views of the Donegal from June/July 1960 after closure but whilst they were lifting the track and before the scrapping of stock etc.
  24. The name Wilson Adams rings a bell although in my present state of health/mind this might not mean much. Years ago I used to have an internet group for Irish railways which I closed down when Messenger or somebody stopped providing Group facilities. Some of the lads on here were members. Wilson Adams moniker was K9 and he was OK. I havn't a clue how he managed to become an Administrator of your Group though Tony.
