  1. There was no or hardly any info on the original slides but a fair number were on the Bangor line and at Carnalea
  2. Just noticed this DVD on the Blackstaff Press web site. https://blackstaffpress.com/ireland-s-railways-9781913555085 Has anyone seen/got it ? So much these days is just a re-hash of existing footage already published.
  3. Early Preservation today , 186 on the ex D&SER at Killiney, Wicklow Goods & south of Greystones 4 May 1968.
  4. About the best view I have Ballingrane 1963, looks more of a dirty white rather than silver.
  5. Back on safer ground today, definitely NCC origin! WT's at Coleraine in 1967 & 1968
  6. I have been sent some more negs and been asked to identify this one as the sender is convinced its Irish. I don't think it is! The locos are outside frame 0-60st's and have a peculiar shaped combined Railway Company name and number on the saddle tanks which was a style favoured by the Rhymney Railway which also had outside framed saddle tanks. I can't find any Irish locos of this style but would just like confirmation from anyone in the know!
  7. I can scan them no problem apart from that I am in the UK, they may possibly be Dingle engines on the Cavan & Leitrim rather than on the Tralee & Dingle.
  8. There isn't a siding next to the wall on the late 19th century 25" map but there may have been before the signalling was up-dated to include interlocking etc in the 19th century
  9. There is a sketch map in 'The Life & Times of a Railwayman, Limerick Junction' where there is a structure marked as Coal Yard. Probably a walled yard for storing coal for the station, hotel. water tower/crane heaters etc.
  10. Definitely Limerick, the Tower is St Michaels Church on Barrington Street with the trees in the Peoples Park to the right of it. Another one solved! Today views are A Class at Limerick Junction A15 and A59 both ca 1960
  11. The spire is in the right place but I think the clincher is a tower which appears above the cab of the loco and I am pretty sure you can see it on google street view.
  12. I am thinking this could well be Limerick with the Goods shed that used to stand on the south side of the line opposite the one that I think is still there. Most stations wouldn't have the amount of junk or sheds that appears in this view.
  13. Cavan & Leitrim Railway today. I have some 50 odd 'new' negs taken on 8-10 June 1957 during one of the last coal 'booms' with at least 3 locos 2L, 5T & 4T in use on the Arigna line' Drumshanbo would make a lovely little model particularly with its curves lending itself to a 'roundy roundy' type layout. I looked on Google Earth and whilst the track bed is now a road the Water Tower on the left and Goods Store on the right are still extant.
  14. Enlargement from a recently acquired neg. Cavan & Leitrim Also have this one at Listowel. Not so good for the cart but the lady (the one holding the donkey) reminds me of my Mother in Law.
  15. The former D&SER today. First Dun Laoghaire Carlisle Pier on 18 May 1959 D14 86 and then a view of the Harcourt Street line near Shankill on 16 May 1959 a year or so after closure
  16. A couple post closure of the CDRJC at Strabane today but slightly different from the sad views of locos and coaches awaiting rescue or demise. The narrow gauge vehicles escaped the cutters torch and were on transporter wagons awaiting removal to Belfast. Interesting Transporter wagons. Directors saloon No 1 Trailer 3 and wagon 136
  17. Here is another said to be at Limerick Whitsun 1960 although if it was Whitsun then Spring was incredibly late that year as other photos so annotated show trees etc completely devoid of any leaves. I think the bogie coach number is 962 possibly ex WL&W can anyone identify it. Also what does the M stand for
  18. I'm working through a bunch of newly acquired negs; can anyone identify this location taken ca 1957-60
  19. A view of Limerick on 14 May 1988 with in the distance 184 on a Special. There are close up views of the loco also added to Flickr today.
  20. JW Armstrong views today from the Armstrong Railway Photographic Trust. Dublin Heuston and Inchicore shed ca 1950
  21. Two from September 1978. 021 at Limerick Junction, the first coach looks interesting (possibly!) A pair of 121's at Rosslare Harbour.
  22. GNRI Derry shed today. HC Casserley views on 19 April 1948. 25 and 140 coaling.
  23. Two more from the late JW Armstrong courtesy of the Armstrong Railway Photographic Trust. Both ca 1950 Enniskillen 88 heading north. D17 98 at Inchicore running shed
  24. Limerick 241 on probably the Foynes mixed 12 July 1955 Awaiting the trip to the scrapyard D14 62 Ashtown Halt 23October 1960
  25. I hate TV advertising and invariably hit the 'mute' button as soon as they commence, these days adverts seem to be on for more time than the actual programme, notwithstanding that the programmes arn't worth watching any way. Even the dog agrees with me!
