A couple of Killybegs, County Donegal views today on flickr. Both 21 April 1953. Railcar 12 on 3.50pm to Donegal Town Also at Killybegs Great Northern Railway Bus no 206. I wonder if this was a scheduled service or was the bus on hire to the CDRJC? I am sorting out a large collection of UK & Irish medium format negs from the late 1950's early 60's which includes a fair number of Cavan & Leitrim & West Clare images but sadly only a couple CDRJC at Donegal Town. Some nice CIE & ex GNRI views as well.

I believe it was a cancelled order for a standard gauge bridge so offered to the Donegal railway cheap. Might have some good news for you shortly Jim

Yes I would agree, appears to be loaded onto a bogie well wagon.

It was probably either life expired and taken off but more likely taken off to avoid paying rates in the 1920's-30's as a cost cutting exercise by the GSR

Jim there are a couple of parts of Stranorlar, I didn't realise there was a large bus garage on the station forecourt but some interesting roof detail of the station building. Also distant views of Donegal Town station.

First one is Stirling and the last one Yeovil Junction the rest look like that boring bit of England south of Geordieland and north of Salisbury

My leatherbound copy of the July & October 1917 Working Timetables plus Train Alterations Notices has this stamp inside the front cover dated 4 March 1925; some 8 years later.

I must be pyschic (wife says more likely a pyscho) because I paid for my outstanding 2 earlier. Not sure what I'm going to do with the 5 now on the way though. 3 are on the old IRM Irish Account and 2 on the IRM UK account so presume they will arrive separately.

Its an EFE Rail which I believe is made from the original Kernow/DJM moulds,dies etc.

I've been musing this week up in the railway room wondering how I could make a small Isle of Wight layout in the space available and things have now progressed to the stage where one can be incorporated. There is a space in front of the Four Masters fiddle yard and a small terminus can be fitted in here and linked to the rest of the layouts so that the existing fiddle yards can be used. The space was earmarked for a diorama of a North Eastern railway coal drop but this project has now been moved to the remaining area at the fiddle yard throat. All these small dioramas layouts plus the main Glengarriff/Four Masters layout are linked together so that one can just let the locos/trains run etc. The photos hopefully explain the concept with Alum Bay being perched on a ledge above the chine with a cliff railway terminus providing a link to the beach below and the station having an overall roof to cover the exit to the fiddle yard. You may have noticed I have used this concept before! The siding next to the head shunt will just take an ex LSWR Gate set (specially transfered to the island to provide a more frequent service for tourists between Yarmouth Pier station and Alum Bay) The service to Newport originally from Freshwater was diverted by the Southern to Alum Bay so as to serve the more populous areas and also Yarmouth Pier. Overall size is approx 1 metre by 1 foot (I use both measurement systems plus rule of thumb as a matter of course!)

Having discovered the original clips for my 2014 Isle of Man videos stored on an external hard drive, I have extracted the clips covering the ex Donegal Railcars Nos 19 + 20 stored in the carriage shed at Douglas. Click on the black icon to view them below.

They took over a few years ago Jim and started using the awful paper that they used on their own publications. Hopefully this practice is now history.

Book arrived yesterday and looks pretty impressive especially as Oakwood Press have gone back to using decent glossy paper rather then the semi matt stuff seen lately. 192 pages plenty of photos, maps, track plans and a number of rolling stock drawings.
