  2. Hello all

For a christmas present my parents gave me this a report of a derailment on Mulingar to Athlone line at castletown which at that time was a block post. The derailment happened on the 13/9/1974 at castletown. From the picture it looks like the derailment happened a the back of the train at the brake is visible  which is numbered 2362. There is also visible a small metal container wagon.thre is also 2 men both i do not but i beleve the man closes to the brake van is a mr D B Green of athlone who was the carriage and wagon supertendent at inchicore.1584472018130514011584.thumb.jpg.56656cbc0cf5f380d5fafeb55e270745.jpg. As well as a picture there is a letter.15844705932212102102814.thumb.jpg.6eeb43d967c1b26d84762d10da8c7c46.jpg

  3. Hi Galteemore

The loco is a waterford limerick and western railway 0-4-4 tank number 295 brian boru.I bought it at a show in 2018 as i dont like moguls 2-6-0s. It is chasis is a SECR  m7 but the real engine looks like a SECR H class. The real engine was withdrawn in 1952 I think and I dont think It ever went on a midland rail line but I do think one of his sister engines ended her life at broadstone in the 1950s. It looks good with a GSWR carrige and a open wagon.

    I'd use a stone-faced one - a wooden one wouldn't last long in a god-forsaken location like that!  🙂

    Hi jhb171achill

A stone platform sounds like a great idea and will probably be what i do but i don,t have any plastic stone sheets by  so I will have to do with what I got.

The MGWR tender has, I am sure, a matching loco somewhere; thus far it maintains its secrecy

Did you find the engine . It locks like it is the tender for a midland great western B class

  6. Hi jhb171achill

My diorama is pretty basic. It is only a  straight line of track

with a Hornby  buffer but I might add a wooden platform of some sort made from match sticks or balsa wood. [pretty simple] Thanks for the comments
