  1. I couldn't get detailing kits for a couple of my 141s, so I'm not sure what will happen if they develop an electronic or mechanical problem.

Maybe I'll have to scavenge from one to keep the fleet serviceable in prototypical fashion. :trains:

Hopefully, there'll be a generic replacement if required.

    What are you missing Dive?

  2. Excellent news. Definitely be getting some 121's.

That just leaves the A Class to be done in RTR......who will take the bait......Murphy Models or Irish Railway Models?

Its only a matter of time, c class would be nice too ;)

  3. Wouldn't that be the first real Irish RTR steam loco?

I wouldn't include bachmanns mogul as it is just a direct repaint.

Ncc jinty in the early 2000's? , the n class isn t bad either but i know what your saying. So i suppose yes would be the answer as these will be the first proper rtr irish steam loco run that weren t based on a uk loco.

  4. Historically yes but not now, mk 3's are gone since 2009. Inchicore has the better facilities but with the refurbishments of the 071 class locos plus keeping nearly 40 locos in service along with the mk4's its relatively busy for the amount of personnel in the works.

From what i can see all the coach related contracts were made in Belfast and were probably tendered on the basis that the work would be done in Belfast. Any movement in this would lead to expensive over runs on the budget.

  5. Don t think Inchicore has the personnel to do the refurbishment work on the coaches, they did the majority of the work on the locos in fairness.

As for North Dublin its only a matter of time before work will have to be done on the Northern line out of Connolly. Can t see any more major road projects been allowed in the area and as congestion is increasing public transport is the only answer.

Heres my old one, just to echo what the lads have already said buy a secondhand bachmann cl 20, sell the body on ebay or another site (you'd be surprised how much they tend to go for :) ).

To get the body to fit the chassis a few mm at each end needs to be paired off. Theres loads of decent pics in the net and if your stuck i ll send you on a few close up piccys. The class 20 chassis will easily pull a full realistic rake of coaches around any layout.

  7. Hi Dave. Hmmm - 203mm is too long for a 121 or C class (more 071 size). Pricey alright, but seems to be a decent chassis for a change being centre drive with both bogies powered compared to the usual Hornby mediocre fare. Noel

Eh i don t think he meant it as a donor for a 121, its just a comparison in the price.
