First DD will be the 0650 Belfast - Connolly tomorrow. Why do I feel like the 0650 tomorrow will not make it to Dublin?

@NIRCLASS80I have not counted any substitution on the Enterprise since 26 February A good sign, I am intending to take the Enterprise to Dublin on 25 May. Where will it be found?

ICRs are only booked to work the 0735 ex Dublin & 1035 ex Belfast during leaf fall season. Sometimes they work the 1320 & 1605 aswell or even work the 1900. ICRs are not usually booked to work anything else but a handful of times over the last three years, the ICR set has been used on the 1650 ex Dublin & 2005 ex Belfast. During a period of time between October and December, faults are pretty much non stop on the Enterprise. At the start of October 2023, there was issues on the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th and then again on the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th & 20th. Faults on 21st & 22nd October and continuing with CAF/ICR sets substituting on the 23rd, 24th & 25th October Next ICR sub was the 1650 & 2005 on 6th November ( 5 x ICR) substituting for DD due to flooding CAFs worked the 0650 from Belfast & 0930 from Dublin on 8th November On 25th November 2023, the Enterprise went into total meltdown The 0650, 1235, 1605 & 1805 from Belfast were all C3K sets, same for the 0930, 1520 & 2050 from Dublin. ICRs worked the 0735 & 1650 from Dublin & 1035 & 2005 from Belfast On 26th November 2023 ICRs worked the 1000 & 1600 from Dublin, 1305 & 1905 from Belfast and persisted on the 0735 & 1035 for the week, and ran on that service until 09 December. 2nd December 2023 ICRs worked the 1320 from Dublin & 1605 from Belfast, CAFs worked the 1805 from Belfast & 2050 from Dublin. 3rd December 2023 CAFs worked the 1105 from Belfast & 1400 from Dublin. ICRs worked the 0735 & 1035 until 9 December The 0650, 1235 & 1805 from Belfast & the 0930, 1520 & 2050 from Dublin were C3Ks on the 11th & 12th December 2023. The 1200 from Dublin was an ICR on 17th December 2023. 19th December 2023 1650 from Dublin began to give trouble in the Dublin area, before finally failing in Clongriffin and pax were accommodated on to the 1712 from Dublin (29/15) which terminated at Clongriffin and ran to Belfast and formed the 2005 ex Belfast back. On the 27th December CAFs worked the 1439 from Portadown & 1650 from Dublin and the 0721 from Portadown & 0930 from Dublin the next day (28th December). Over a period of 26 days and a rough estimate of 92 failures during Q4 2023!!

Sorry, This is just information I have that I either was informed of or observed for myself. During the autumn or winter months there tends to be a period of non stop failures, and that can happen for up to 2 weeks. I will send an updated version tomorrow.

Regarding Enterprise substitutes for a failure, there are only a few possible options 1. C3K set from Belfast 2. ICR set from Dublin/Drogheda/Dundalk 3. 29K set from Dublin/Drogheda/Dundalk Will we ever see Mark 4's make it to Belfast??

I sat in a Park Royal Coach No. 1944 in Downpatrick back in August, And I have to say, they are so comfortable. Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure to travel in 728 yet but I hope to soon. The DDs are my personal favourite, find the seats comfortable, but I cannot unfortunately say the same for the Irish Rail Mark 2 or Mark 3 (I never travelled in them) have not tried the Mark 4's, 2600s or 2800s yet. When I got an ICR to Dublin on the 1035 ex Belfast in November 2022, it was interesting, but I got a bit of a sore back from the seats (and there was a queue for the bathroom onboard)!!!

Lets see... 29000 railcar? To be honest, the 29000s are great commuter trains, but I am not too sure I would like from Belfast to Dublin... unless they were to send an 8 car set up... that would be good.

Yes... To be honest, The Gatwicks were only in passenger service for seven years, first journey on 10 June 2002 on the 1714 GVS to Newry, to their final journey on the 0750 Portadown to Belfast Central on 18 June 2009. If only the Gatwicks were used on the now 0800 from Portadown to Lanyon Place, and the 1637 Bangor to Newry, I would have loved a trip on the Gatwicks from Lanyon to Newry, and to get the set leaving on the 1850 x Newry... @NIRCLASS80 did the Gatwicks ever operate passenger services on the Bangor line?

The last operational day of GVS is now planned to be 10th May (was 5th) then trains will continue through directly between city hospital and Adelaide until line closure between LP and Lisburn from July, subject to adjustments for where each service will terminate. Lanyon Place and Botanic likely to see increased numbers of boarding alighting passengers. Then BGCS opens in September. Bus subs will be in place during line closures
