  1. Am super excited!!! Seems like an eternity that we’ve been waiting but now we’re literally on the home run I don’t give a hoot, just super excited to see these on the rails!
  2. Imagine someone getting up and calling out IE for accommodating cyclists but not pilgrims! just goes to show the scale of change over time.
  3. Hi Fran, Understandable indeed. Nevertheless we great expectations judging by the pics! More than a few expletives, rolled eyes and facepalms here too. Excuse my ignorance, but can some knowledgeable obliging person explain to me what exactly ‘ambulance’ means in terms of an Irish railway coach from 70 odd years ago. (…Don’t tell me they came with defibs installed and CE marked?) Thanks, Alan
  4. Thanks Mogul I’ve ordered several sets of decals from him, the auto ballasters and several more. Des Sullivan is a great source for these. Now. To learn all about airbrushing railway rolling stock!…
  5. Who’s weshty - and how do I contact him?
  6. Fran, Thanks a lot for just getting back to us with what’s actually happening. I’m fully happy that Accurascale are sticking to their guns and insisting on the standard. So we can all be thankful to you for that. Glad to know what’s happening. When you see things like this it does make me think how difficult the whole process must be, from concept to opening the front door to sign for the package.
  7. Brill. Thanks for posting. Was 6111 the Greystones shuttle?? was also wondering about the vertical black ‘skirt’ or fairing under the buffer beam. It wasn’t fitted to the originals. Anyone know why it was fitted. (Looks a whole lot better with than without!) In model terms it’s a really very major feature of the dvt ends of the pushpulls.
  8. Yeah, in fairness at some point you’re gonna end up asking yourself what do you get for your buck. I just got a set of 2600 Push-pulls and tbh, I’m a bit disappointed. Lifted the coach and felt just how thin the sides are. Before I had it in the rails, twice, an axle fell out of its bogie. But anyhow, hey ho, it’s a made-to-order RTR model of a particularly niche model. I’m gonna remove the coupling on the dvt, add the skirt, modify the buffers, possibly the headlight, and add some vacuum hoses.
  9. Yeah, damn, quintessentially Irish! Absolutely oodles of character and nostalgia! We’re blessed with the squad at IRM, in absolute fairness. The delay is because we can be sure they have a goal and they have a standard they insist on, and frankly we can be thankful for that. But holy cow, what a waiting period. End of March, hmmm ok. That’s 55 sleeps.
  10. Hi Guys, Just to update you, SSM still going dezsullivan@gmail.com Be patient...
  11. I absolutely can't wait to see these. In 1985 I couldn't even have imagined what would be possible in the future. The HO scale Lima Cl33 resprayed with gray bits on top and carriages also resprayed orange and black were the best thing ever! I remember going to school from Harmonstown to Connolly in a train so crowded me and my Dad stood in the gangway between the coaches. I could see the rails of the points flashing like blades through the gaps with the heavy duty metallic clanking of the couplings and squealing rails. Bit scary as a 6yo, but I vividly recall holding my Dads hand and one of the manila fibre ropes inside the all-leather gangway. Latterly I remember getting into a DART for the first time, how narrow they were, how tough the seats were and how completely devoid of character they were. But, by God, they were gloriously warm, and the train moved super smartly and extraordinarily, was on time, and incredibly were frequent! I immediately missed the opening windows and the thrill of being right behind a filthy Metrovick! Right - reminiscing over - how long more do I need to endure???
  12. Fantastic pics. I recently aquired a batch of 30 double beets from CKPrints (Enda Byrne) and the finally also located 30 donor chassis for them. A useful point is that Des O'Sullivan of Studio Scale Models has decals for them (and other not so very long ago freight like the cement wagons) which I need to complete them. I also discovered that Quinoa seeds are perfect OO scale beets for the load, so I'm nearly ready to go. I also got myself brass bearings for the wheels (shouldered and plain type) which should hopefully make for better running. Never fitted them before, not sure how, any tips will be gratefully appreciated. Currently I plan to dry assemble one, see how much play there is with the axle fitted, then carefully drill the axle boxes just a smidge to make room for the bearings. Any tips, do let me know.
  13. Isn't that what we all are at heart?!
  14. Would you be able to point me in the right direction to find info on how to convert BR Mk1 = CIE "BR" Genny? I bought 3 Lima ones at a show recently. Would be very grateful if you could help? Thanks, Alan
