What a cracking model!
Funnily enough, the vid below popped up as a suggestion the other night - posting with the connection to the topic:

Some info from Guinness site on the railway:
another article on the Guinness railway, with a list of locos and when they were withdrawn:

Much as modern Lego is impressive, their kits to build specific models are both a backward step and very expensive. Guess it is good for business, but in my day, the whole point was about creating your own stuff. We made ships and aeroplanes and, when various types of wheels appeared, railway and road vehicles too.
There was also the brilliant "Legotechnic" - kits aimed at schools. We had several of each in my class. Motorised and unmotorised, they allowed you to explore simple concepts like levers, pulleys and gears. In the latter case, a couple of bright sparks put all the gears together in a train that produced ratios into seven figures and we then did the maths to work out how long it would take for the wheel at the far end to turn! Happy days, before the National Curriculum, of course.
Am sure Lego was part of my scratchbuilding education. Didn't realise it at the time, but definitely helped me learn how to visualise a model's construction. Shame I missed out on other stuff - could easily have been a rock star instead of failed triangle player...
Along that very line - in the video below, they create a gear train with a ration of 1 Googol:1 - madness!!!

I remember having a BR blue Deltic, and the Lima Class33 in CIE colours with a couple of Lima CIE coaches

Theres a lot of railing against social media generally, but I steer well clear of facebook. Nothing to do with any particular groups, just the platform as a whole.
Facebook is infamous for poor moderation practices, allowing extremist and conspiracy content to run rampant and selling off data en masse (the Irish regulator has fined them close to a billion over the last 2 years). Although also brought about by the natural 'innovate or decline cycle' of any company, Zuckerberg was pissed enough at Apple allowing users to turn off third party cookies (and killing their profits as a result) that he wants to own the software and hardware for 'internet 3.0' aka the disastrous moneysink known as the metaverse. There's also significant controversy over their 'free basics' internet in developing countries.
Ever since Electric Jesus / Space Karen took over Twitter, it looks like he is trying to take over from Facebook as the new place for the loonies to go and spread their shite - with a few choice tweets from himself to get the party started

I had to take myself off 'antisocial media' - Facebook/Meta/Twitter are poison. Don't get me started on businesses using FB as their main 'website' - if you are at that sort of thing, you have failed
A dedicated forum is a different kettle of fish.

Private group on FB, so not much use. Also, no good for those not on FB

I've been in the IT game for the past 25 years - no backups is a real no-no!

Once I've all bases covered with diesel locos & stock that ran with them, I'm done, and my bank account can finally take a long overdue breather!!

Can we put some rats into the 26, 28 and 29 class railcars?
Would that not leave only the ballast wagons pulled by a tamper as the only rolling stock? Or did NIR get rid of the ballast wagons?

Another reason not to order from the UK - if the extra duty due wasn't enough!

Whatever is going to be released, it'll give me a chance to get the accounts back into the black!
I'd have no interest in steam at all, as for me, my earliest memories of the railway is from around 1980 Connolly station, and plenty of GMs and Metrovicks in action! On a Sunday, my uncle would take me for a trip out to Howth, Bray, or Dun Laoghaire - I can remember him taking me on the DART on its first day of operation too- 1

What about Tracy and Sharon (Shard'n)

Nice looking build - I built a block shed with my dad, but we never did the insulation in the slab. It's more of a home to a couple of motorbikes, several mountainbikes, with a workbench, cabinets & shelving taking up the rest of the space!
We did run electrics down to it from the house, and have the armored cable coming up through the slab - setting it in place before pouring the slab in sections - mixing the concrete ourselves.

Didn't click on the vid, but I'm assuming it was shot on carpet too lolz!

I hope it's mostly steam era stuff, so I won't end up in the poor house!

In the case of the two farms above - the question is - was the land bought from the railway after closure? If not, surely then it is a case of tough titty pal - follow the former railway alignment, as the farmer doesn't own that land

What are all the gashes on the driving trailer?

Great quality print that! Did you have to do any/much sanding down to remove 3d printing 'lines'?

Pairing coach stock

Around the 2min35 mark of this cine transfer from 1980, put up by Tom Ryan, there is an example of a 'mixed' selection of coaches:
