Do you mean a "C" class in "flying snail" green? .....................................................
Sure he can want both?
True story, I managed to travel behind both 201 Class No.231s on the same day, in the same province.
('Big' 231 being my motive power back to Dublin after C231's performance at the last ITG gala).

Good stuff. Very enjoyable read.
Belated thanks!
We've a little poll going on over on Twitter as to people's favourite current 201 livery... I couldn't possibly say if we've a plan behind this...

Bookings for the "Wild Rose" excursion on the Sunday August 21st are now sold out (though if you're looking to make a weekend of it, the Branchline Society are running an ICR tour on that date). Tickets remain available for the "Premier Rose" to Tralee on Saturday August 20th at https://www.tailtetours.com/events/the-premier-rose-railtour

I worked in Argos many years ago and there was an 'Over 18s' shelf in the stockroom, the idea I think was to make us think twice about their age when picking such item for a customer... anyway, among the X-Rated games, DVDs, etc was the most sinister product of all: a Winnie the Pooh tea set.
(it had a knife).

We're planning on finalising numbers for this shortly, with the booking deadline looming we recommend that anyone who hasn't booked do so soon to avoid disappointment

*full disclosure I'm one of the organisers owing to a fit of madness
Then the Branchline Society are running a tour of unusual sidings and loops the following day, Sunday 21st August with an ICR, proceeds to the Railway Benefit Fund.

It’s the electrification coach-used to examine the OHLE during the 1980s/1990s
if I recall right spent most of its OHLE train life in one of the bays at Pearse and only moved down N Wall in its last few years? I think it had the company of a BR van in Pearse but could be misremembering...

The news you have all been waiting for – Downpatrick and County Down Railway is opening its doors to the public once again in summer 2022 after two-and-a-half years of closure.
Two years of Covid closures and a huge backlog of maintenance meant we could not open earlier this year, but now that summer is upon us, after a huge amount of work from our volunteers we are finally opening our doors to the public.
Initially we will be operating mainly on Saturdays only from mid July, and are using our 450 class diesel railcar for public trains as the steam locomotive overhauls have been delayed by the loss of key volunteers during the pandemic. We are working to get them back in action for the Lapland Express trains this Christmas. More details of Christmas trains will be announced very soon!
Starting on Saturday 16th July, we are running trains each Saturday through July, August and into September as part of our Summer trains programme. You can find out more about our summer trains here.
As well as this, our first two special events are confirmed. The first is the SuperTrain, a super hero experience that the kids will love, running on Saturday 23rd July. Full details of the SuperTrain can be found here.
We will also be running The Jurassic Express, a dinosaur adventure on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August. More details of this will be added soon.
We are still facing ongoing issues with Newry, Mourne and Down Council with the main station buildings, so we apologise if some areas of the station are not available on your visit.

Quick update for those interested in doing both days, we now have ONLY 6 TWO DAY TICKETS LEFT— capacity on the Sunday excursion is very limited.
Grab em while you can here https://www.tailtetours.com/events/the-premier-rose-railtour (choose the 'Combo' ticket for both days).
We've had a few more society stands confirmed for the Saturday diesel tour so it's shaping up to be a great social occasion while raising money for good causes and providing an unusual haulage opportunity.

Well done. Grew up in the area and you've captured the feel well, recognised Esmonde St bridge and all.

Some of the mechanics described in The Third Policeman wouldn't out of place on a steam locomotive footplate (paying attention to readings and making adjustments etc.).

Lovely stuff, 161 was a failry early 141 class casualty... anyone remember why?

Following our diesel railtour to Kerry on the Saturday, on Sunday 21st August we have organised a special outing to the Cavan and Leitrim Railway at Dromod. This will include some special workings involving their beautifully restored Avonside steam locomotive "Nancy" and former Bord na Móna diesel No.LM114 "Joe St Ledger". Normally there is only one loco used at Dromod on a running day so this a rare chance to get two.Travel to and from Dromod will be by Iarnród Éireann service train, with an afternoon departure from Dublin allowing participants a chance of a lie-in after the previous day's trip. For those wishing to travel on both tours and make a weekend of it, a special combo rate ticket is available, at €120 all-in this is incredible value for a two day railtour; indeed it's less than that charged for many one day railtours in Great Britain.

I think one of the Tom Ferris 'Irish Railways in Colour' books has a picture of the mogul itself in front of the S Class.

The latest article on our Táilte blog might be of interest to modellers, we *think* we've covered every livery variation the 201s have carried in service. (That said there were variants within the original Enterprise scheme, but that would take up an article in itself!).

Always thought this would make an intriguing compact little layout, plenty of potential for single 121s running bonnet first etc.
