  1. The lighting really helps to set the scenery off.It looks like a typical dull Irish day.Great work.
  2. Stephen, the operating potential for your layout is fantastic, looking forward to further progress over the winter. Are you still updating your thread on RM Web also?
  3. When you say all of your stock apart from the Dean goods goes over the diamond crossing, does that include all freight stock and coaches? It could well be the angle of the photo, but it looks too sharp to me to accommodate a rake of wagons without a derailment. If all of your stock cross over it without a problem, then happy days!
  4. Great work on the layout BabyGM,the start of any layout is always a pain, but worth it in the end.It is always good to get a loco running on what you have been working on.Just to back up what the other guys have said,be careful with the track close to the baseboard edge as my hand once knocked a 3 car 80 class railcar set of the layout with dire results.
  5. Thanks Kirley-if there is anything I can help you with just ask.NIR in the 70s and early 80s is my main focus.
  6. Your layout always captures an Irish feel,it really looks the part.A sad demise for your MIR 141,but a good idea for giving it a fling on the layout.I have a whitemetal MIR 141 myself, which until the arrival of the Murphy 141s,was the pride in my fleet. Now with the arrival of the 071/111s on the horizon, will your MIR one's be going the same way! Keep up the good work, your layout is a credit to you.
  7. Hi heirflick-will see about starting a layout thread on here if and when time permits.
  8. Thanks ttc0169-the era is one of the best for liveries and varying types of stock in Ireland. The other great thing about the GNR section of NIR,it had the regular freight and passenger traffic from Dundalk/Dublin,allowing me to model lots of CIE stock also, with freight in particular,as it is now a thing of the past and Adelaide freight yard is no more.
  9. Thanks Rich, the layout is dc controlled but wired to allow 4 train operation at once,a bit of a handful on one's own!
  10. The NIR coaches that ran with the GM111s to form the NIR Enterprise service in 1981 were standard British Rail MK II coaches of types A,B and C.Repainting Lima coaches, picked up cheap on ebay,is the cheapest way to do a rake.MIR used to do sides to do the buffet and generator coaches which may still be available somewhere, but the buffet can be done by blanking out some windows and the generator coach with a bit of alteration also and suitable grilles, from a supplier like Howes would create this coach.HTH
  11. Thanks for the comments and the link to my layout thread from RM Web. I am still a member on this site, but have not been on for a while, hence the belated response to the above comments!Must rectify that,as there are some great threads and many smashing looking Irish layouts, with Tara Junction always being a particular favourite of mine from the old forum.Amiens St,also on RM Web,is another layout I am enjoying the progress on.
  12. The maroon livery really suited these loco's,glad 102 has now been preserved in this livery, especially when it looked like she might go the way of her sister loco's at one point.
  13. Great shot of the 3-111 classes together, very rare indeed,as was getting the 3 Hunslets in the same frame.
  14. Stephen-was wondering why there was a lack of an update on your layout progress, you have been busy in other fields! Just happened to stumble into this new website, created by yourself, did not realise the old site was in decline. Look forward to more updates on your layout progress.
