  5. Challenge has started, the first 30 minutes was spent stripping the coaches and using a mitre saw cut all the bits off to re-use on the new builds. oh by the way I got my wife to take the pics as time was very tight for me to stop and do it myself... Ends off next and save all the bits as they can be re-used on other projects as you all will see in the coming weeks/months.... 11. And don't forget that Magherafelt layout was at exhibitions a few years back plus there is Ballyclare built by George Thompson. And another one which I am starting sometime soon will be Whiteabbey station.... I am just gathering all the bits I need now so I can complete the layout on the short term....
  12. Very time consuming to convert from donors eg 150 class units and these being underfloor powered you would need to re-power and keep underframes clear for brake gear etc. As Nelson says a 450 class brass kit from worsley works is easier to build and can be completed within a very short time frame too...
  13. Wow livery looks fantastic on the Railcar.... I really like it...
  14. Very nice the Livery suits the Railcar unit....
  15. Just a pity she never carried the sloping yellow motif, it was the first gold motif that NIR used for this livery.....
  16. 112 NORTHERN COUNTIES is built and will be in the dark blue livery.... to date she has not run at drumawhey yet...
  17. No not at all Nelson and I also use to own 101 EAGLE too and was lucky enough to have built all the NIR locos at drumawhey.
  18. The 70,s had blue asbestos in the roof panels and was really only discovered when one of the power cars was being inspected for possible preservation.... or so I was told back in 1985... yes that is 111 GREAT NORTHERN.. 7 1/4 gauge and its based at drumawhey......
  19. Brush over your transfers with yacht varnish that will protect them..... Nelson that's how I got the ncc letters I done the same as cg-antrim..
  20. Reasons why these type of buses go on fire is the B7 Engine runs so hot that if a hydraulic hose splits which happens from time to time it only takes seconds for it to go up 2944 was a casualty to that type of fire and is now scrap.
  21. I Brush it on using a daler brush (blue handle) and varnish does not need to be thinned as it is thin anyway, these brushes can be purchased in the art section at easons. Colin.
  22. Hi guys I use yacht varnish and it works great every time..... Colin.
