A Cork Waterford loose coupled goods passes Keilys Cross in early October 1974. 20221007_140429.mp4 20221007_140026.mp4

After a week of rain today is warm and dry so I took the opportunity to do some painting in the garage. Shown are the Dapol Prestwin container flat conversion, an ex GN 12 ton van built from a Parkside kit, a Provincial Wagons ex GN van and scratchbuilt ex GS insulated van.
-
Almost ready for the paint shop. The IRM and C Rail containers have easily removable floors allowing them to sit on the Dapol floor avoiding the need to remove the base for the silos. The white plasticard was added for stability and strength and thee cent coins were added for weight. The buffers are from Dart Castings.

Very little modeling was done over the summer months but the arrival of fall weather has led to a resurgence of activity in the wagon shop. Work is progressing on two ex GS wooden bodied vans and Dapol Prestwin underframe is being modified to better represent a CIE container flat for an IRM container.

Probably a marketing scam by IRM to sell a new three pack!

A Cork to Waterford goods passes Grange in September 1974. Today's train has has a block of empty opens which will be dropped off at Glen More in anticipation of the upcoming beet season. 20220629_140719.mp4

This is lovely. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

On a number of occasions I unintentionally explored the extremities of the Berlin U ban and S ban lines in the early hours of the morning while living there in the 80's and 90's!

What a great idea!

A39r on its first run on the layout. Operation on the South Waterford Line has devolved into running the new mags over and back across the layout behind the A class locomotives just so I can admire them! 20220624_094232.mp4 20220624_095037.mp4

Also on the workbench awaiting some final details is the first of two ex GS vans which will be painted CIE grey. The chassis is from a Dapol meat van kit. The doors are adapted from the extra ones which came with the Parkside 12 ton van kit.

Yes, three brake vans and they are indeed delightful however after acquiring seven A class and a rake of magnesite wagons this year it will be a while before I can afford anymore!
-
With four Crossley engined A class and a grey 121 added to the roster recently more grey loose coupled goods wagons were needed for sixties operation sessions. Here three Provincial Wagons GN 12 ton vans, a Parkside 12 ton van, a Parkside palvan kitbash and a Studio Scale Models 30 ton brake van await the paint shop.
