Reading the ESU website FAQs it looks like 'Full Throttle' won't work with current MM 071 or 201 sound file versions until ESU convert them to FT versions which doesn't seem in the immediate future. As IT suggests it may be possible to download US FT sound files and add back the Irish horn, guard whistle and station announcements, but another FAQ seemed to suggest that sound channels could not be mixed with FT versions - not very clear.
I had hoped it was possible to just download a firmware update for existing V4 decoders without replacing the sound, but it looks like the sound recordings are remixed to work with FT (Full Throttle drive), and only US versions currently available.
FT versions can be easily created using the suitable engine sound from the North American selections. These sound files are fantastic quality, a real move forward since the release of the original Murphy Sound files.

The chassis, while similar, has enough differences to warrant an entirely new tooling.
And to paraphrase Scotty... "We can'nae go any faster"
You are all doing just great, plus it will give us some time to save!!

Think these famous wagons share almost similar chassis to the ballasts and bubbles:
Hint IRM
Hint, Hint!!

ESU have recently introduced an option called "Full Throttle" to there North American range of sounds. These can be downloaded and the Irish horn and station announcements edited onto them using the ESU Lokprogrammer. I have done this and the engine sound is terrific. See the video in post number 11.

Yep... project #3.
Yep what???????????????
-
We'll be unveiling the identity of Project #3 on Saturday morning at the October show.
Project #4 is still a closely guarded secret in development at IRM's Skunk Works...
What about project 3??
-
I would love to see container flats or fertilizer bogie wagons myself but I'm sure we will buy whatever the projects are if they are as good as the ballast wagon!!!
-
Great to see things progressing. Ballast wagons 98%, Bubbles now 90%, Project 3 25%, and Project 4 5% underway. Super time to model Irish railways, I will certainly be selling some North American stock.

MM0111 had a running number of 111. MM0112 is missing off the list and I don't think any of the 201's were ever weathered. Great list and thanks.

Thanks for the info on Kadees. I think that is easy enough fix.

Have the NEM pocket height been checked for Kadee coupling use??
-
Great job, well done lads, now get them painted!!!
-
Great stuff. Irish railway modelling never had it better and lets hope things just keep getting better.

The great thing about using ESU common sound files is that you don't have to pay for each loco's sound file. You can simply load it into the chip using the ESU Lokprogrammer and even update and modify the sound according to your needs.

Just recently ESU loksound have upgraded lots of there GM engine sound files for the american market. I took one and edited it to include irish 071 horn sound file and it sounds great with the new feature called full throttle. Sadly I cannot video it as I am in the middle of a house move but as soon as I get a chance I will. I think you will like it and the engine sounds are also available for the 121's.

Exciting stuff!!!!
If this sort of announcement had been made by a British Model Train manufacturer on a forum we would have at least 30 pages of guessing, fighting, arguing and finally condemning the manufacturer for ever making an announcement in the first place!!!!
OK I will start the guessing game.
1.Bogie Fertilizer wagon
2.Cement Wagon
3.NIR Class 80 (DREAMING)

looking good. Great work from you lads. I think a big thanks is in order.

The Belmond Hibernian will not be travelling north of Belfast for this year anyway.
-
They would make a nice model in fairness....
As Dirty Harry would say "Go ahead, Make my Day!!":)

Looking good, cannot wait. Any word of you announcing NIR Class 80's as your third project???

No, it's because all funds from tickets go directly into supporting the church. And I can't see any trade stand doing that.
I think the church would survive without the Model Club income!! The church should be thanked for the support it gives the club through supplying premises, heating and lighting.
-
40 stands of layouts/displays - no trade due to the archaic nature of the organising club
Its not up to us how any show is organised and this remark is totally uncalled for. If you don't like don't go.
This show is about displaying are hobby to the public and the club always seem to have a lot of young people involved.

Hi Noel,
The tooling is ready to go but we can't confirm an exact date until we've received and approved the pre-production samples (we've just been told the factory should be turning-out the first one within the next two weeks). Depending on how these samples turn out, modifications may be required. If this is the case then obviously that would add some more time to the process. Once that phase is completed, we'll be given a slot in the factory's production schedule. Unfortunately we can't be any more specific than that right now; it's a case of 'wait and see' while the factory does its stuff. Nevertheless we're approaching the end line and customers should have wagons running on their layouts by the end of the summer.
Great Stuff
One question could you give us an update on when summer begins in Ireland!!!

It doesn't say in the magazine but if you would like a nice little rake of 24 it will be expensive no matter what!

Best way is to listen to the various EMD/GM sound files and pick the one that gives you the sound you think is right for the loco. Sound is so subjective that the best way to pick is please your own ear! Its your model railway!
