Is there much of a market for 1 gauge (spur 1) models of Irish prototypes?
I think we are just about to find out

I wonder if the delay in announcing a new loco is all to do with the Flying Scotsman weekend?
You never know may be they are keeping it well guarded secret, but I wonder what would happen if they announced the production of GSR Class 800 steam loco along with some pullmans as an express train set

Hi Guys
I think I am having one of those days when the computer does not like me I can't for the life of me find a photo or even better still an OO scale Guinness van wagon.
I am sure someone made them ages ago but do you think I can find them?

Lot more than just that, as the gauge is over 350mm would have to meet the full CRR requirements (for a loco have a look at document CRR-036A). Restoring it would be the simple part, everything else around it wouldn't be and probably not worth it when there's currently two heritage railways with steam, and more on the horizon
Hi do you have a link for the CRR requirements thanks

Gary Skelton would probably be the descendant of the Guinness employee who bought no.21, which was withdrawn as long ago as 1959. Given the state it was in back then, I'm not sure that Mr, Skelton had any real plans to restore it - rather it was more of a keepsake to remind him of his workplace.
Private collections are exactly that - not for the general public or the internet to see. If no.21 is dismantled or scrapped, we're not going to be able to see that either.
Yes you are right it will be up to the owner what happen to it and I live in hope that one day someone will be in the right place at the right time to see that happen.

Don't you just love this thanks Keith you made my evening, that's the sort of thing I say and people are so quick to try to correct me, but I know what I am saying thank once again love it
Also make sure that you are not looking at the grey primer etcher they do as that is a bit more expensive that normal primer?

Just in case anyone is on facebook I have put out some feelers as to the location of any remaining 5ft 3ins gauge steam locos around the world.

Only really smart choice for mainline work is another WT. For a preserved line, an MGWR J 26 or Glover tank.
Yes I wasn't sure what to suggest I am thinking more in line of what would be more useful for the Connemara project in the long term looking in the great book it has either a 4-4-0 or an 0-6-0 tender locos.
If however you think that it should be build to run on the main line then something a bit different is required such as an updated version of 850 2-6-2T. But if you want character they why not go for a GSWR class 47 0-4-4T

I can't help but think it might be a good long term bet to think about building a brand new steam loco, but which one would have the most appeal?
You don't want one that will become to small and you don't one which is too big either any suggest guys?

I can say with some confidence that something like that may not be too far away. At least we have hattons 6 wheel coaches coming….and of course those 3D print MGWR 3rds if you can paint em up yourself…..
looks like I missed this about the 3D prints do you have a link please?

Something which has just come in to my brain and that is may be they are going to do a valentine's day massacre of the C Class or some such Irish loco all in Red and hearts all over it

Hi JHB I am sure that most of the 3ft gauge horseboxes where grey, the only ones I am not certain of are those on the Cavan and Leitrim Railway being either Green, Maroon or Grey depending on the year in question.
