To be accurate has had a full mechanical restoration at Whitehead and it is a moveable chassis. All engineering work carried to operational standard. More money needed for next phase which is the boiler and firebox only.

Is that all for there ambitious plan to have a line between Donegal town and Stranorlar/Ballybofey

We have 2 proposals being formalised at present. A short line beside the former station.in Donegal Town or using the tracked in the Barnesmore Gap. Early days on this at the moment.

If memory serves there was a halt around the barnsmore gap somewhere. I wonder how possible it would be to have a line between Donegal town and barnsmore

all theoretical of course, I’ve only been to Donegal once and never checked the present state of trackbed

The section in the Barnesmore Gap being looked at is around where the pub at Biddys is located today. Do try and track down a copy of the visitors guide to the County Donegal Railway printed 25 years ago? We hope to update this book for 2022.
