Noel Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Bray-Wexford very scenic. Demolished remnants of the glory days of goods traffic visible in each of the stations, on what is now a virtual tram line. At least a 22k tram instead of a 2600 biscuit tin. Stunning scenery as far as Arklow. A nice day trip in the blue sky. 4 Quote
Irishswissernie Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Scenery - wise , I would add the run along the banks of the Slaney from Enniscorthy to Wexford on this route. 2 Quote
jhb171achill Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 It’s by far the most scenic line in Ireland. Killiney Bay, Bray Head, beaches for miles past Kilcoole, Vale of Avoca, Slaney River, Enniscorthy, Wexford Harbour front, more beaches down to Rosslare…. 1 Quote

Yea after all these years today was my first time down that route, and it was on a dam tram not behind a howling GM loco. 1 Quote
Noel Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) Bray before departure 22k rolls in as 29k arrives IMG_3529.MOV Nice scenery on a beautiful day to explore a new route Rathdrum village Choo-choo mixes with the traffic on wexford quays Some nice bogie detail and nicely weathered on these toy trams Sunny south east special arrives back from Rosslare port (same train) for return trip to Bray&Amiens Street. Had an hour and 20mins for lunch in wexfords pedestrianised backstreets crowded with cafes. Something for everybody in the sunny south east Slaney Nearing home as Dublin bay and Dalkey island come into view Now I just need to do the run from Ballybrophy to Limerick before that line gets closed. Last month I managed to cycle part of the closed Mullingar-Athlone line which used to be the MGWR mainline to the west originating from Broad Stone, later Amiens Street (Connolly). 3 years ago cycled part of the closed Fenit line. Foynes might be next. Anyway blessed by a really beautiful day for a mini adventure. Edited September 29, 2021 by Noel Cause I'm anal about typo's caused by lexdysia 4 Quote
jhb171achill Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 I'm off with Barry Carse to do the WDLR greenway in a few weeks........ but I'm afraid it'll be electric bikes this time, not cyclable ones! Even an ICR to Dungarvan would be more preferable, though I would draw the line at a UTA MED...........! 2 Quote
