Internal lighting for brake vans/coaches

Everard Junction on YouTube did a tutorial on DIY coach lighting recently which is very good

If you want somthing simple this might be an option. I havn't tried it myself but have bought led strips off this guy and was pleased.

This is a simple option. Maybe buy one and try it on one coach and see how it goes. It will not cost a fortune to experiment with this.

The video of Everard Junction is excellent but not for the faint hearted. In my experience the use of resistors and soldering can put people off, but it is not as difficult as it looks.The main problem is getting power from the track to the LEDs in the carriage as Everard Junction explains. Have a look at the video it is well worth a look even if you decide not to go down that route it will fill in some of the gaps.

Express Models also do "oil" lamps in yellow and red which can be hooked up to either DC or DCC locos. They do red "oil" lamps with small batteries for guards vans. First Class Trains do carriage lighting kits (the Bright version is best) but no longer do these in a rechargeable battery version.
