Hi Guys I am in the process of building some freelanced OOn3 bogies coaches.

So the question is where can I buy the right shade of green for CIE era green?

I am mot sure what the shade of green as was used on the old Cork, Blackrock and Passage coaching stock so any suggestions will be welcome.

CIE light green and dark green….can be hard to make up. Would be nice if somone just made a standerd pot of “CIE green paint” like hattons or IRM.

if you want tips on CIE green put “CIE green paint Irish railway modeller” into google and I’m sure various threads with various awnsers will come up.

With passage green it’s a bit harder. A CBPR coach on original livery was found in 1969 and is recorded in colour on the IRRS archive. Problem is by that stage the liver and crest were WELL faded. In any case any sort of “dark green” will do as who is going to correct you!

I'm sure that I've seen it for sale somewhere online. SSM or DC Kits or somewhere. Beware DC Kits, though, you're likely to get tartan paint by mistake.

When I was a lad...

Phoenix Paints do offer a CIE Coach green in their railway colours range which does look to be spot on for the early darker green used. The lighter green, Humbrol No.3 is a close stand in for the shade.
