LNERW1 Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Now, this isn't super relevant to me as I don't model modern image, but a thought occured to me that could be of some use to those who do. Due to its ease of use, AI has penetrated many areas of social media, but what I'm focusing on are AI programs that can "speak"- as in read out text in a computer generated voice. These AI voices are commonly used across many platforms devoted to short-form content- TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, etc. There are a few different voices used around these platforms, but an oddly prominent one has a fairly well-spoken Irish accent. I noticed this accent was similar enough to the Irish Rail announcer's voice that it could conceivably be used for station announcements on modern era layouts where recording actual announcements would be difficult or impossible. I believe the Irish voice is Narakeet's "Cillian" voice, here's a link: Narakeet "Cillian". Keep in mind the technology is a little finnicky, so you may need to add punctuation to make the lines come out right. 2 Quote
Broithe Posted August 5 Posted August 5 On a train from Heuston to Ballybrophy around the turn of the century, I heard the following station announcement, as we drifted down the platform to a stop in Port Laoise. "That's the Cork train coming in now". Quote
Mike 84C Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Went to the Nuremburg Toy Fair defo in the last century! But the auto train announcements on the U-Bahn had a very Germanic tone. I can hear it now!! Quote
Mayner Posted August 5 Posted August 5 The Sat Nav and Map could be set with different National/Regional accents. The wife (American/Ozzie) used to get a great kick out of a 'Australian Lass' giving us driving "directions" in the States and 'her" pronounciation of Kiwi place names. Not sure how AI would cope with Irelands numberous regional accents and dialects Quote
