WANTED Hornby Peckett(s)

As the sub forum is called For Sale Or Wanted I thought I would probably be ok to put up a wanted ad. If anyone has a Hornby Peckett (either type) in black or MSC green then I could be up for buying it. Please keep in mind that I may not have any money to be buying trains with at the time you do message me- right now I probably couldn’t do more than €100 and even then it’s a little (but only little) bit of a stretch. If you don’t want to sell to me that’s absolutely fine. Also if I’m out of line anywhere here feel free to check me. I’ve had few experiences of this part of the forum and what I have had has been sometimes less than fun and  clumsy (on my part) to say the best so again feel free to check me. Thanks.

I have a green NCB version of the B2 peckett if thats any good? bought it for the chassis but I wont get around to that project any time soon, Id do it for 100

I’d have to think about that. It’d be a more complicated project than the alternative but it could work. I’ll get back to you. And either way thanks for the offer.

You could  always  repaint it if its not the livery  you  want.

My problem is that I'm not super confident about painting the wheels and motion. or rather stripping paint off the motion (?). I'll see about it and I might buy it at the weekend. Need a bit of time to think first! 100 quid might not be so much to some of ye but it's still a fair bit for me! This isn't really a hobby for anyone under 25 is it? (/s)

I don't think that there was any inference that €100 is a small sum.

You asked for something and offered €100 max, and got exactly what you asked for.

I'm sure you'll be grand at repainting, or stripping the paint if required.

You're a young lad with eyesight and free time that old farts like me can only dream of.

Not sure about the hobby being for the over-25's only, either.

Around the 25 mark  is probably the time we drift away from the hobby for a few years, or more, as life takes over.

We then drift back into the hobby as life begins to settle down for us.

They're quite good little engines really, lots of diecast on them, I also have the W4 but that ones fate is decided as a chassis to go under a printed body! I have quite a few other british locos and stock to be selling on as I have a garden railway and a vintage Austin to fund

With a bit of weathering added you could easily get away with the wheel colour IMO.

I started here at 13-14. Spent a good bit of my hard-earned part time job money throwing myself into the deep end, got a steep learning curve from the mistakes made along the way. It's all a learning process at the end of the day. What I'd say is before weathering, painting, lining etc a good quality loco, it's good to have some old cheap thing like a bodyshell of an old loco as a testbed.
