NI Railways used to do that on cliffs, I think it was because that had that cancer thing that you can catch from old train wagons etc.

Didn't they bury some in a quarry because of the asbestos?

They did Broithe,it was Crosshill Quarry near Antrim,a flooded quarry where most of the MED and MPD railcars were mothballed and met their watery end

Ah, that's the one I was thinking of! :)

The 70,s had blue asbestos in the roof panels and was really only discovered when one of the power cars was being inspected for possible preservation.... or so I was told back in 1985... yes that is 111 GREAT NORTHERN.. 7 1/4 gauge and its based at drumawhey......

112 NORTHERN COUNTIES is built and will be in the dark blue livery.... to date she has not run at drumawhey yet...

Yea don't mind me coming down some day to have a look, as when I get part of adleade depot sorted, I hope to build a 201 in 7 1/4 gauge with the DD DVT.
