jhb171achill
A question.... Anyone got any advice, good sources, or general thoughts on the reproduction of accurate looking alpine-type scenery, and station building kits, for a layout based on 1960-80's rural Austria? Anyone got any advice, good sources, or general thoughts on the reproduction of accurate looking alpine-type scenery, and station building kits, for a layout based on 1960-80's rural Austria? Faller do a few decent Bavarian/ Austrian alpine type kits I think! http://www.faller.de/App/WebObjects/XSeMIPS.woa/cms/page/pid.14.17.90.133/agid.1296/ecm.ag/The-Alps.html Edited April 10, 2015 by 201bhoy
0 jhb171achill
Thanks, 201. I saw several on ebay, though they weren't the particular ones I wanted..... I'll have a look at these.
0 josefstadt
Faller also do realistic looking backscenes. I got mine through Walter Oberle (Kinvara Train) for a similarly themed layout.
0 jhb171achill
I've been looking at the Faller stuff - it looks great. They don't seem to do actual railway station buildings though, or am I looking in the wrong place?
0 josefstadt
If you log into the Faller website: http://www.faller.de/App/WebObjects/XSeMIPS.woa/cms/page/pid.14.17/lg.en/Produkte.html then select 'Track Gauges', then 'HO Selection', then 'Railway Stations Railway Buildings', then 'Railway Stations' you will find what you are looking for. There are also other types of railway buildings at the last step. However most, if not all, of these buildings are based on German prototypes. These can be quite different to those found in Austria. German stations often are built of brick or stone, while Austrian stations, particularly rural ones were finished in yellow stucco plaster. There are a number of manufacturers of station buildings in Austria who specialise in producing models of Austrian prototypes or generic Austrian building types: http://www.mbc-weiss.at/ http://www.h0-gebaeude-modellbau.at/produkte/Angebot___2608 Unfortunately their products tend to be somewhat more expensive. Hope this helps.

0 jhb171achill
Is that a kit for a station, Wrenn, or just the accessories? I had a smaller station in mind, to be honest....
0 WRENNEIRE
Both kits JhB The Faller one is .9 of a meter and the Kibri is only a tad smaller
