I've just been to a small, local exhibition, run by - http://www.hpw-railway.org.uk/ - in a nearby village. Mostly UK stuff, apart from one US layout.

 

Some really high quality modelling on show. Several of the layouts had both 00 and 00-9 sections.

 

I did notice that the DC/DCC ratio was about 50/50, but all of the DCC layouts were using NCE Powercab units.

Well, the biennial show nearly passed me by this year, but I was reminded just in time and got there through the floods, after two failed approaches...

This was definitely the highlight for me.
