dave182 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Hi guys Is there such a thing as a motor that would drive or connect to just a single axle? I'm thinking of building a piece of on track plant, something like the old plasser sandite unit. Any thoughts? Quote
0 Garfield Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) Yes, it's pretty common, although you'll need a gearbox as well... otherwise you'll have two speed settings: warp speed and stop. Edit: Something like this Mashima motor would be suitable - http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Mashima-Motor-MH-1224D-10-5-polig-12V-DC-Gleichstrom-MHK-MH-1224-/262022885652?hash=item3d01c7f114:g:bpIAAOSwBLlVO1MG And some gearboxes: http://www.djhmodelloco.co.uk/motors-gearboxes-oo-ho-scale/ Edited October 19, 2017 by Garfield Quote
0 Andy Cundick Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Suggest you check out the High Level website good selection of gearboxes and motors The boxes virtually fall together I tend to use them for everything.Andy Quote
0 dave182 Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 Thanks Andy and Garfield! Yes, the Mashima is tbe way to go. To follow uo on Andys post, High Level Kits Limited (http://173.254.28.51/~highlev3/chris/Pages/gearboxguidepage.html) have a great tool on their site to answer exactly the question I posed at the start of this thread. 0 David Holman Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Note that Mashima motors are no longer being made, so stocks are increasingly finite. Also, remember that single axle drive will severely limit haulage power, but on the sort of vehicle you are considering should not be a problem as long as you get plenty of weight on the driven axle. 1 Quote
