GNRi1959
I have absolutely nothing of Irish passenger stock so tonight I bought this set NEW off Ebay @ £200. I think they are quite rare and although this type of thing never ventured on the Derry Road, its simply something Irish to start my collection. It is expensive but surely its worth it. Whats your opinion Wrenneire?
WRENNEIRE
It is what it is Tony. Green loco usually brings in a few bob more than the 2 black ones, Mint boxed examples can make up to €150 Coaches are in the €40 - €50 bracket so I reckon you did not do too bad Wrap in in Christmas paper and stick it under the tree!!! GNRi1959
Dave, whats the history of this set - Great Southern I presume?
jhb171achill
It's in CIE 1945-55 livery, Tony. The carriages are not authentically Irish, as they are re-liveried LMS stock, though with the commonality of Derby design, they're not unlike some ex-NCC vehicles. The loco would have run under both CIE and GSR banners. The GSR painted them the usual all-grey, and it was CIE that painted most of the class lined green. GNRi1959
Thanks jhb, nice to have them. Don't plan on scratch building coaches anyway.
