  1. GNRI. Castleblaney 204 on Dundalk train ,14 Sept 1956. Ballyhaise, JT 91 on Belturbet branch train same date. Oldcastle 13 September 1956.
  2. I picked up some 258 negatives in a Justaclickago auction last year. They are from 1995 to 2006 roughly but with no information. I have identified most locations but little else as I have been pre-occupied with more historic images. Its frightening to think that they depict an era now some 20 -30 odd years ago, but still fresh in many members minds. The first 3 are Limerick Junction probably about 2003-5. Or slightly earlier, there is a loaded fertiliser wagon in the middle view.
  3. Cavan & Leitrim today. Ballyconnell , 10 July 1954. Belturbet 14 September 1956, 10L in the transhipment siding. Belturbet station platform and loop and goods siding to the left 5 June 1957.
  4. Londonderry & Lough Swilly Railway, Pennyburn Yard No 10 26 September 1953. Dublin 192 Climbs the bank to join the ex GNRI main line on mts for Platin February 1999. Ex GNRI , Belfast approaching Adelaide UG UTA 47 on Portadown goods 5 May 1959 JGD damaged but restored slide
  5. You can mix them up with wooden bodied wagons as well. At Courtmacsherry in 1960 it appears that they would be taken in small rakes (4+ B/Van) to Ballinascarthy where they would be combined into longer sets of around 20 wagons and then went on behind a C Class to Cork and then Mallow. Numerous views in the CB&SC Album
  6. Just showed Madame that I can keep a secret.
  7. This image looks familiar today! Loughrea 22 May 1963
  8. Courtmacsherry shed 29 August 1960. GNRI Belturbet Signal Box & JT 90 2 April 1956. Irish Sugar loco but where?
  9. The house is still being re-wired but should be finished this week when I should then be able to access my PC. The good news is that I have finally received some 119 negatives taken by Nick Nicholson and WAC Smith in the early 1950's and I have scanned them in on my Lap Top. Almost all of them were taken in the area Strabane - Omagh -Clones Cavan Belturbet Enniskillen Glenfarne Manorhamilton Ballyshannon and Donegal Town. Cavan ex M&GWR C212 23 September 1957. SLNCR Enniskillen at Enniskillen with the train crew and staff 21 September 1957. 'Enniskillen & 'Lough Melvin crossing at Glenfarne 8 June 1957.
  10. VS 207 on an IRRS Special at Cork, Glanmire Road 17 March 1962. A bit, well a lot poorer quality than JG Dewings slide above; 154 at Ennis 16 August 1994. These 2 need the locations idenified. Unknown F6 at unknown location er photographer unknown , probably ca 1961. EDIT Inchicore and F6 42. Similar lack of information on this ex GNRI 4-4-0 . I think it might possibly be Derry .
  11. Limerick G3 291 July 1955. CB&SCR Cork Rocksavage EX GS&WR C4 31 ca 1927 County Donegal Railways, Strabane, River Mourne Bridge after closure but before track lifting 26 May 1960. Ballyshannon, Railcar 15 26 May 1957.
  12. I'm trying to dream about what I can build in a 10 feet x 2 feet space to replace Glengarriff but my dreams always end in nightmares about the up-coming re-wiring!
  13. About 10 feet x 2 feet overall but it might be possible to extend into my 'den' which will double this but at the moment things are chaotic as I havn't experienced a re-wiring whilst we are living in it. The 009 scale layout however shouldn't be affected.
  14. Glengarriff closed suddenly today due to the impending re-wiring of the house being brought forward from next Spring to next Monday! The loft needs to be cleared to facilitate this and the local Authority has decreed that basically I am too decrepit to be climbing all those stairs and once everything has been renovated she says I can build a new layout on the Landing next to my Den. The station boards departed tonight to pastures new. One small piece of good news is that Four Masters Bridge will be retained as a diorama so all is not lost.
  15. Mallow, 078 March 2002. Killiney, 657 JG Dewing 19 May 1956. Edenderry 1950's
  16. CB&SCR Dunmanway nameboard in March 1961. County Donegal Railways, A couple of Dewing slides at Letterkenny. May 1957.
  17. Fingers crossed but there are hopefully some 15 + SLNCR negatives in the pipeline shortly.
  18. That picture is of the Mourne River bridge , the one I have is the bridge over the Foyle north of Strabane near Garvary (Google Maps). I too thought it was on the Dublin- Belfast Main Line but the slide caption says otherwise and its also in the Colourpoint book on the GNRI page 67.
  19. SLNCR Manorhamilton station "Lough Gill" 25 Sept 1954. Glass Negative D7 539 at Dublin Harcourt Street probably between 1930-1935 before being reboilered. GNRI 1960-05-20 Strabane. Derry - Belfast diesel set xing the Foyle JGD600438. 5 Car BUT set on 4.10pm Derry to Belfast service. 2nd Coach is Buffet Car 124
  20. A couple more JG Dewing slides. The first is the entrance facade to Belfast GVS on 25 May 1964, the only buildings recognisable today is the block containing the "Crown Bar and Robinsons Bar with a Barber's sandwiched between them. The next one is a thatched cottage in Newtonstewart on 3 May 1964, it may have been of railway interest as its painted blue. Lastly a giant cast iron netty which Galteemore has kindly identified as being in Victoria Square, Belfast June 1964.
  21. Do you mean escapees from the local Calf Sales
  22. I've enlarged this bit of the Enniskillen Railbus 2A negative to highlight the unusual container on the platform which appears to have a barred door so you can see the contents or possibly to convey dogs/ young animals etc.
  23. SLNCR Enniskillen Railbus 2A 25 September 1954. UTA Portrush station, 25August 1962. West Clare, 5C arriving at Ennis on the afternoon goods. 8 July 1954.
  24. Yes you are correct the Saltburn - Manchester Airport TPX service doesn't run via Darlington but goes direct from Eaglescliffe to Northallerton via the old 'Leeds Northern' Main line and then via the East Coast Main Line to York etc .
  25. 3 Cavan & Leitrim today , I particularly like JG Dewings shot of 5T at Dromod terminus on 22 May 1957 with (I think) ex T&D companions coach and bogie van plus the local passengers. The other 2 views are at Ballinamore, 3L on the Arigna train 26 August 1954 and 12L 21 May 1957 (Dewing's developing a bit suspect on this one) The last view is at Cork J11 220 July 1955.
