My long-time mate Dave Ford who I made many railway expeditions with and exhibited layouts with from the start of the 1980's until 'Anno Domini' caught up with us, has a photographic Archive (DaveF) on RMWEB similar to mine on Flickr. We both started uploading on RMWEB prior to 2009 but I switched to Flickr around about 2012 after the demise of fotopic. Dave's RMWEB stats are quite impressive, over 8700 posts, 21272 replies and probably 20000 + photos uploaded. No Irish though. He is now faced with re-uploading images from June 2021 because of their problems. Although I have over 20,000 UK images on Flickr, I gave up on uploading to RMWEB as it became too time-consuming plus images were 'snipped' and occasionally appeared elsewhere on the Net. The lack of exposure on RM hasn't affected the popularity of the Flickr Archive with hits now approaching 50 Million and 1500+ followers. The adverts get on my wick but then so do the ones on the TV which I invariably mute!

Clonakilty 5 June 1958, 90 on shed between Courtmacsherry branch duty. 2 views at Ballaghaderreen 19 May 1959 Last image, Collooney ex WLW 18 May 1959. The train is on the curve connecting to the ex M&GW line to Sligo. Sidings on the right are the ex WL&W (GS&WR) goods yard and the line in the centre going under the bridges is the connection to the (already closed) Sligo, Leitrim & Northern Counties Railway at their Collooney station.

The M&GWR line at the edge of the diagram shows a siding next to the running line. The siding actually formed a long run round loop with another crossover half way along its length. -
I enjoyed watching Leslie McCallister's excellent IRRS Lance King slide show Webinar last night. Here are a few views at Belfast York Road, the slides are by Roy Dennison from 1987. First view is from 6 September 1958 In the second view you can just see a former CIE C Class Last view is the former Midland hotel I also probably have more NCC HC Casserley negatives which havn't yet been uploaded but its having to sort out which ones due to former computer woes!

I don't think its Clonmel, the individual stones on the parapet are different. On the A8 view they are in pretty regular lines whereas in this Graham Roose view (21 October 1995) which I have found in the pending tray the Clonmel parapet stone are irregular small pieces. The platform also looks wider.

Irish Model Railway track plans

I took some video at Thomastown on 14 October 2003. This was when the Beets were being diverted via Kildare due to the Cement train crashing through the viaduct at Cahir. I caught the train from Waterford to Thomastown hoping to video a beet empty set from the bridge at the north end. The station and surrounding area was totally deserted although in the field by the over bridge was a herd of cows who seemed quite interested in my company especially when they learnt that these strange new trains were carrying sugar beet which probably tasted rather like sweet turnips. After what seemed like an hour but was probably nearer 3 hours a train materialised, unfortunately for the cows (but not for me) it was empty logs. There are some views of the station yard and also the appalling state of the running line. Its frightening to realise that its approaching 20 years ago!
