  1. There's a wee review of the bubbles in there too, and lots of BR blue and sector. Right up my street!
  2. This is what happens when items are rare and you miss them first time round. When they’re for sale grab them if you want them, you save money in the long run, it’s the same with IRM stuff. Glad I’ve got my 112, she will always be a favourite!
  3. We will be there of course with ballasts, ivory and orange bubbles for sale. Drop by and say hi!
  4. Hey everyone, I was doing a bit of a tidy around IRM Towers and found a couple of pack B ballast wagons so have stuck them up on the site for sale on a first come, first served basis. These are the very last we have of them so don't miss out before they become impossible to find! https://irishrailwaymodels.com/shop/freight-stock/cieirie-two-axle-ballast-wagon-multi-pack-2/ Cheers! Fran
  5. Brilliant as always Dave, I get more misty eyed over these old Lima catalogues and sets than anything else. I assume that Lexie Tynan is no longer with us? He would be a great man to talk to for an insight into those days.
  6. I think there is a lack of imagination in the marketing and product development too. The trusty British trainset from the established names lack any additional play value and attention grabbing features compared to say, the Triang days. Marklin are doing it properly with their "My World" series, offering durable models of glamourous prototypes like the ICE and TGV, fun freight trains with tipping logs, working cranes etc, and then the wireless remote. It's one of the most popular toys in Germany and with good reason.
  7. Didn’t think they did pints of Jemmy??
  8. Thanks for all your votes so far everyone! Means a lot!
  9. It's okay lads, vote for whichever you think is best. We'll just have to settle for Manufacturer of the year!
  10. PLEASE VOTE FOR US! We're honoured to be nominated for "OO Gauge Model Wagon of the Year" for both our ballast wagons and cement bubbles as well as "OO Gauge Manufacturer of the Year" and "Overall Manufacturer of the Year" in the RMWeb 'Model of the Year' poll! Please give us a vote if you can, it would be an amazing crowning glory for 2017 if we were to get high up in the vote! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/poll/index.php?sid=15451&lang=en
  11. You could always buy some more and have a pristine and weathered rake to run, we wouldn’t object! (in all seriousness we’ve had customers specify that they are doing that.) Joking aside, lovely job Noel. We are loving the sight of people personalising the models!
  12. What a year it has been! 2017 saw us successfully bring the first quality ready-to-run Irish outline model wagon to market which received high praise and we quickly followed it with another! We would like to sincerely thank all our customers and supporters for an amazing 2017! It wouldn’t have been possible without you. We’re looking forward to 2018 and four (yes, four!) newly tooled Irish models at least coming down the line! Happy new year from all the Irish Railway Models team!
  13. It’s pretty much the above but with a lot more swearing!
  14. Awh shucks, cheers men! I’m sadly now 21 + a bit of VAT but being the youngest of the IRM team is something I can cling to! Thanks for the well wishes and I hope you all have a peaceful and happy new year!
  15. I’m sure Wrenneire I’ll blow my ‘under the tree’ effort out of the water but I must say it’s pretty cool to have Models you are (somewhat!) responsible for under the tree after the childhood years of getting Hornby trainsets from Santa! Thank you to everyone for their support, well wishes, and custom! Have a great Christmas, peaceful new year and here’s to an exciting 2018 with at least three newly tooled IRM projects on the way throughout the year!
  16. The first magazine review of the bubbles has been published in the January edition of Rail Express magazine, somewhat renowned for being tough to impress. Pick one up to see how we did!
  17. Thanks everyone! I ventured over to the South Dublin Model Railway Club last night to drop off some orders. I was greeted with mince pies and a warm welcome. Thanks to Paul, Joe and everyone for the warm welcome and chat! I think everyone was delighted to see them arrive for Christmas!
  18. Probably best to say it to them yourself George but we will say it to them too. Thanks for the order!
  19. Loving this thread as always, Steven! I threw down a bit of Marklin on our new baseboards in IRMTowers recently. Don't think the rest of the IRM team were overly impressed!
  20. Thanks for the orders as always, men! We hope you enjoy them.
  21. Anyway, back to the orange bubbles. Look what turned up bright and early this morning (and I don't mean Patrick!) We are currently ploughing through quality control and packing with the first lot of shipments leaving very shortly with our courier! We are also delighted to say that half the orange run is now sold, which is amazing as we only announced them less than two months ago! Remember, if you would like to get your hands on them before Christmas, we thoroughly recommend you place your order before lunchtime tomorrow (Wednesday, December 20th) if you wish to avail of courier service to Ireland and the UK.
  22. If there's enough demand for it, we will do them. It probably will depend on how quick the orange bubbles go, as they would be a lot more popular one would have thought.
  23. Hi Noel, many thanks for the feedback. Your comments on the colour being ‘toy like’ is interesting. I understand these things can be personal preference, but we believe in accuracy, and having doing painstaking research and talked to the people ‘in the know’ who were most kind to provide us with pictorial evidence, this is the colour that the prototype carried. I think the fine printing and the serious hours of research and design that has gone into getting all the marking legible and correct also make it stand out, and personally think it would be a shame to lose it under weathering. After all, they stayed fairly clean compared to subsequent liveries. But that’s just me.
  24. Hi everyone, If you're looking to place and order for ballast or bubble wagons and want them in time for Christmas, you will need to place an order before lunchtime, Wednesday December 20th for the UK and Ireland. If you want to place an order and collect it from us at IRM Towers, you can do so up until 1pm on Friday, December 22nd. We will then reopen on Tuesday, January 2nd. Thanks! Fran

  25. As you can see above, our orange bubbles are going through their final checks at our factory in China before taking to the skies. We have a huge amount of pre-orders to get through but we will do everything we can to get them to our Irish and British customers before Christmas. If you would like to order wagons (including the orange bubbles) and receive them before Christmas we strongly advise you to place your orders ASAP so we can get them to you before Santa arrives!www.irishrailwaymodels.com/shop It's going to be very busy in IRM towers before the Christmas break!
