So the dust has settled from GETS, which was the last of the 2024 bookings for Charwelton into the 80s. Lots of intrest in the layout at the show with a crowd along the front all day on both days. Didnt get that many photos as we were just running as many trains as we could. One of the team managed to get this shot of the MGR working on the up.

So with less thn 6 days to go till the show, what do you do, decide to take a siganl off as after it be ing worked on before its vome loose on the base. The only signal to be screwed to the base, the rest being soldered. First up, apart from making a hole on the layout, is to make a new base for it. Glad its the weekdn as i can spend most of it fitting this back in place........I hope.

The days are ticking away and the siganl is progressing. The new base is installed ready to have the new hole cut in it. The siganl its self has been reassembled and is a lot smoother and hopefully you cant tell that its been apart.

Thank you for the kind comment. At times we do wonder if it is, as the look out keeps making a bid for freedom but always ends up in the trees close by...

Hi all, So we have a show coming up in 32 days. A local one for a change, which for those of you who exhibit means that after the show I can be home in 20 mins instead of the 3-5 hours that its normally takes. which will be nice. One thing that we have always had an issue with after we installed the servo wa the barcket signal as its not the eaiest thing to get to and would alwys work during testing but would stop with in the first 5 mins of a show. So with the show looming, it was decided, well I decided it was time to take it off the layout and do some work on it so out wth the large screw drivers and out it came. One of the issues was the pull rod wasn't working as well as it should and was running over the edge of the platform causing drag. Out with the drill and some new wire. Now runs alot smoother. IMG_4621.MOV Just need to blacken the pull rods, fir new balance weights, make a new base. Fill the hold in the base baord to fit the new base, connect it all up and test it. Count down is on!!

Had good show at Macclesfield over the weekend. Gave a new toy a run out and it did rather well. Apart from beaching its self on the barrow crossing btu a quick slice with the scaple sorted that out. Didnt get chance to take many photos, so here are a couple.

So its been a while..... As im taking the train set to Macclesfield Model Railway exhibtion I've been sorting the stock and starting to get the varous bits together that are needed. The stock trays had been bothering me for a while as whilst tryingt o kepe everything secure it was leading to a little bit of damage now and again. So a rethink was needed so now the foam used for seperating the stock is at the bottom with slots cut for the couplings, I use sprat and Winkle, to keep everything in place.

So its been a while since the last post, not sure where the time has gone. As we have a couple of shows this year we thought it was time to get the trainset out and set it up and work though some of those jobs that are meant to be 5 or 10 minutes ones but seam to take a lot longer. So to start we had a bit of a photo session for new stock. Just couldn't resist having them both on the layout.

So one thing I have been meaning to do for a while is to add a section of removable track on the DCC demo display stand as with the colletion growing and having more smaller locos they need somehere to be displayed. So a a bit of work with some files, soldering iron and drills it was installed. Not much to see granted but will make the stand look more like a light dispaly than ever.

Do a bit more to the van. Pressing the rivets out using a GW rivet press. Keeps everything even and straight.
-
Did a bit more on the chassis. I had hoped to get the chassis fully done in the time i had at the bench that day but due to the slots and tabs not fitting together and after a bit of file work, I finally got the solebars to sit flush and the floor straight.

A couple of new kits arrived and as I have a show in April with Wainthrop Bridge I thought I would make a start on them as the one item I'm missing is a bogie van. With most rolling stock I always start with the wheels first as then I can make sure that all the cleanaces are good. After a bit of work with the bending tool and the soldering iron the 3d printed side frames where added. They will need a bit of work as they are bowed

Hi all, So the next wagon up is a L&YR single bolster Dia32a for a David Geen kit. This will be run as a single empty wagon for trips to the yard on Wainthrop Bridge. I will be updating the brake gear as I find the white metal stuff is to thick for the rodding and blocks, so I will be fitting some etched parts along with some brass bar and some 3d printed brake blocks. Well thats the plan.

Also stops the over ordering/lack of wire. I go from having so much .45 wire in stock to having none at all and this will mean I can keep an eye on it.

Hi all, Next up has been this wire and rod holder. Up till now Ive been using a plastic box to keep the various packets of wire and rod in and its always been a bit of a mission to locate the wire that I need as its always the last packet you come across. So whilst at the Manchester show I got one of these to keep everything more organised and make it easier to know when stocks are running low to give chance to get more supplies.
