  1. Another from the Preston show
  2. Hi all, So not much building going on at the moment as Im getting all the stock ready for the big layout that sout at the end of May, but I thougth I would post up another photo for you all. Taken at the Preston Model railway exhibiton 2023.
  3. Thank you. It's a team effort on the layout and on the 37s. Having a quick look, there is one from everyone of the team in the varoius photos. Just waiting for those very nice Accura blokes to bring out some more Blue 80s ones, Large logo Scottish ones for me personally and then the next layout project can begin, BUT as they say thats another story.
  4. The end result of the work was this IMG_4584.MOV Which will kep some of the ops team happy but wll mean we will have to watch him to make sure not everything stops at the signal!!
  5. So with Railex fast approaching and with other engagements meaning that we can't fit in a working weekend we resorted to a working evening instead. Suitably armed with sustinace we started on the Up bracket signal
  6. Whilst the coach is drying aftera coat of primer. Next up is a second set of Twin bolster wagons. This set will have a long load between them to create some intrest and fun whilst runnng them.
  7. Hi all, So a few days away from the bench since the last post but a couple of hours on sunday night has got me to this point. Nearly time for a dip in the ultrasonic bath and then some primer before checking.
  8. Not had much bench time recently with other things going on but made a start on the chassis the other evening. Its is compensated and has a floating centre axle, which can be a pain when your trying to put it on the rails at a show.
  9. Hello all, At any one time, as a group we have lots of projects on the go and I'm no diffrent with 20 currently on the go (not all for Charwelton into the 80s I hasten to add!). Here is one that I'm on with and that creating one of 2 or possibly 3 breakdown trains that I plan to use across a couple of layouts and a future ones. The basis for this one is one from Springs Branch Depot in Wigan which as at the top end of the GCR network so it may have travelled down this far. Whilst the crane is RTR the accompanying coaches and open wagons will have to be scratchbuilt using a mixture of kit chassis and custom etched sides as one of the coaches had a small verander at one end. This is going to be done along side another project that I'm hoping to be ready for Railex at the end of May. If it makes it I will pop some photos up of it in my workbench thread.
  10. So the basic shell is together. Now for the fun bit of doing the bird cage roof part.
  11. Hi all, So its been a while since I posted anything in here and after a weekend exhibting at the Perston Model railway exhibtion with Wainthrop. I had lost the enthusiasm for it over the past few months for various reasons. After getting the enthuisiam for it after the show again mostly due to the public showing lots of intrest in it, I have set my self a goal to get any outstanding kits and bits built or finshed off and to build some items that you can't get as kits or RTR.Learning some new skills as I go, but more on that in another post. So first up is a second 6 wheel Bridcage 3rd brake which will eventually end up as a rake of 3. In real life they ran as a 5 coach set. Unfortunatly 5 is too long for my platform. Though knowing me, I may end up doing the 5 and then when they run on the layout it can be different numbers in the operating sequence. As with most kist, once you have built one already you get to know the best way to build them so first up is to add the beeding, vents and the window drops on the doors.
  12. Hi all, Something different for this post. A bit of a behind the scenes look of the layout. At most shows the back has as much intrest as the front. Not sure why

  14. Hello all, Erm where did last year go......answers on a post card please. Well a lots happened since the last post. The next outing of the trainset was Wigan which the guys enjoyed with out me due to external factors preventing me from attending. So our next show is only 132 days aways and I thought it was about time that I started updating you all with whats been happening..... So to kick things off here is a very nice Deltic (no prizes for who made the model ) on a sunday afternoon diversion along the Great Central
  15. HI all, Another etched kit build on the bench. This time a Highland Railway double deck sheep van
  16. I've used IPA to great effect. I use a mix of 90% IPA and 10% water which has removed most piant from factory applyed to resprays using all sorts of paint. i usualy leave the item soaking for at least 4 hours and most stuff comes off with a scrub of an old toothbrush. If paint still lingers than just put it back in and leave for another hour or two.
  17. Hi, Yes mostly white metal with a brass chassis.
  18. Where did the summer go A recent item that i had on the bench was this, A C16 in the process of cleaning the body before a coat of primer.
  19. Thought I would pop in for a quick update whilst the securrty code for work comes through to access the system. Been building some track work for a friends layout. The crossover is in a helix and has 2 points that are curved D12s and are 30" and 27" radius.
  20. Late on Saturday afternoon What do you do after spending a day operating model trains........ you go unit spotting at the station
  21. So we made it home from the Perth exhibition after a great weekend. Had a few gremlins due to the heat in the hall but on the whole we had a great weekend and the layout was well recived. Got small list of bits to do before w head off to Wigan in October. Apolagise now for the photo dump of the weekend coming over the next couple of weeks. Thanks
  22. With Perth less than 7 days away, well the journey North starts on Thursday. There has been a few last minutes tasks to complete and finish off those last few bits of stock making thier debut at the show. Just a few bits for weathering.
  23. Thanks for the kind comments, I will pass them on to Dave who is the scenry side of the team. When we first got the layout it was just a backscne all the way down and it was thought a bit of a corrigated wall would add a bit of intrest to the area.
