  1. Hi Gabhal, I am located in Dublin city centre.
  2. Hi Could anyone advise where to pick up red/black bus wiring in Ireland. I've looked online unsuccessfully. I'd prefer to purchase at home then resorting to ordering from UK (also the shipping cost are equal to equipment in the order). Thanks
  3. Top one 2600 series railcar. The bottom standard Mk3 loco hauled (PP Mk3 had the open windows)
  4. Hi All, Would anyone know what colour the CIE narrow gauge carriages were by 1950s? I thinking from looking about the net, its white or cream uppers and brown lower (see below-thanks to Ernies site). But the floors and colour of the upholstery I'm not sure of. I have seen reference to GSR 'second-class' cloth for seating post 1925, what colour would it of been? The C&L original carriages seem all over dark down/brown with white roofs. Rebuilt C&L 1L, light scumble? interior with white roof? Any idea of the cushion seat cover colour and floors? Rebuilt bus body 7L, more difficult to determine, maybe cream interior? wood coloured window frames? Bus seats colour unknown, by with silver trim. Ex T&D via WCR, brown lower and cream tops, similar to the recovered10T below? 10T as recovered with cream? topped, brown lower and white roof. Any advise or info on this much apricated. Thanks
  5. Thanks. I spent a good 20 mins looking at the the colour shades in MarksModels during the week, just wasn't able to find a faded maroon shade to match the LRTL tour photos. The etch primer and then maybe a spray and light primer might help lighten it before applying the livery. But will I've some brass frets to test on before applying anything to the body. Yes, the green on carriage 11L is also faded, that's another headache for later to see what colour to try match that up with Would you have a suggested what to use for normal GSR marron? Cannot seem to get the Phoenix Precision spray shipped over. I seen a recommended a Halford Rover maroon? {cant recall the one} on this forum, but couldn't find it stock in Halfords anymore.
  6. JBH, what colour would you recommend for the faded salmony pink colour for worn/oou stock. I'm thinking like C&L carriage 1L was by 1953. Thanks for all the invaluable info.
  7. Hey anyone got the working times for next weekends tour? thanks
  8. 813 does look great in that green. Remember seeing it buried in the shed back in 1997, was in good condition even as a tarry. I had always thought it was non-corridor compartment as it was a suburban dia carriage, but the ends show a corridor plated over. 1910, local services diagram
  9. So has the RPSI fully vacated from the old loco shed and sidings?
  10. I don't know about the broad gauge ones, but I've a number of narrow gauge Rc21 Shapeway prints and so far they have been goods quality. The usual steeping, washing and rubbing down before priming. Fingers cross the next one has no issues.. A given tho that not as detailed as brass kits. It would help if accurate drawings were to have for producing 3D CAD and prints. Best regards, Peter
  11. Hi, Would the W irons, axle box and springs have been painted grey with the rest of the vehicle IRL?
  12. Hi, would anyone have a pic of brake van 191L from the other end. Also trying to see what the inside might be like from the open platform end. Thanks
  13. There was at least one of the brake vans still in use in 2004 for the oil transfer between Alexander Rd and Heuston. I have a hi8 film somewhere of it, will have to dig it out.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to try your Halford combo suggestion, ordered to pick up tomorrow. I picked up the Shock green in A&H last week but even on a base coat of Halford grey primer it is still too bright to the eye for 1940s dark green (see test spray pic) It might suit post-1955 CIE green.
  15. Thanks, for the update, will leave them body colour so.
  16. Can anyone suggest which brand and shade of model spray paint is nearest to CIE 1940s dark green livery. I have used Humbrol no 3 spray but it seems a tad bit darker than expected. Have also used a shade of Tamiya and does think is quiet right looking. All suggestions welcome, Thanks all.
  17. Just a follow up, any idea what colour the side lamps might of been at the guards ends. Same issue as footboards with the colour to photos to identify for modelling. Thanks
  18. Great, thanks a mil, painting underway so
  19. Does anyone know what colour the footboards on C&L 21L and 22L would of been. The two colour photo I have seen of the two coaches together are inconclusive (pg 108 A Second Glance - 4L [incorrectly identified as probably 8L] blowing of at Dromod and pg 35 Narrow Gauge in Colour- 5T train is in the shadowed coming over the level crossing). I think the b/w picture of 21L newly refurbished at Ballinamore shows the footboards as possibly light to mid grey but the photos of 22L are harder to distinguish. As an aside I know the colour photos showing the LRTL special on the T&DR in 1953 show the foot boards as very light grey, however I would presume that is a mix of weathering/lack of maintenance and the Kodachrome used.
  20. Hi Just wondering can anyone advise what colour the chimney would be of the stoves in brake vans, around the 1950s CIE days? Would it be painted black or grey? Doubt it would of been left bare metal nor painted white lead like the roofs. Trying to find photos online but none clear of the roof but I can see model have them black. Photos of UK models seem to show them black. I'm thinking Humbrol matt black 33 and a little Humbrol dry brushing of 113 rust brown. Thanks
  21. That is perfect info, thanks a mil Andy and will make fitting out this one out the easiest. On a hunch, I forgot to check The Transport Library website and I think this is the elusive van on track lifting duties, the number just about visible and looks like 16. I surprised there are not more pics of the van around given how the others have shown up in many images. - Peter
  22. Thanks Andy. The bodies of 14L and 18L both had extra T shape bracing on the sides while 17L seems in most pictures to have only a single strap around the centre of the body [exception being page 45 of The Irish NG in colour - the pic looks like there is T bracing - but it doesn't show up on the other pictures]. The rear door of 14L also seems to have been revised with small window and extra bracing straps. And the doors all seem to be matchboard ones however I want to check 16L before cutting and strapping, already filling in and smoothing the panels on the van I got..
  23. Thanks, got a these, they are good details on some of them, I'm just trying find figure out the exact difference of 16L from the other three vans. Planning on doing all four vans.
  24. Hi Does anyone know or has a photo of C&L brake van 16L? I've checked the usually books, the new Fall & Rise of C&LR, The Irish NG in Colour, The Last Decade, NG Rolling Stock, Smoke Across The Drumlins and Ernies Photo Album on Flickr and cannot find one specifically of 16L. There are clear photos of 14L,17L and 18L for reference but I've been unable to ID any photo of 16L. Have a shapeway brake van being prepped to becoming 16L if I can find a photo for ref. Thanks All
  25. Hi, Any idea what colour the upholstery was in the two carriages 3L and the rebuilt 1L? Thanks
