  1. The original plan was for 7 coach rakes inc DVT but as popularity of the 'new' enterprise turned out to be greater than expected they were increased to 8 car sets. This was one of the reasons why the engines struggled so much with HEP. In recent years motorways improvements and NIR and IE getting pathetic path timings down to a fine art have eaten away at enterprise footfall so the sets have been brought back to 7 (I'm open to correction on all of the above)
  2. Cheers lads, very enjoyable to build. We've talked about doing an 80class 3car but wether time ever allows the plan to come to fruition is another mater! Seamus, class 20 sound is pretty much spot on for a hunslet
  3. Anthony (and others who are interested) if there is sufficient demand for a 170 done as a CAF 4000 then production is something we would look very seriously at. The other option that we've looked at is a Bachmann 150 released in Castle Class 450 livery but at present this is on the long finger as Bachmann have yet to produce a centre car that would allow a three piece set to be released
  4. In a word, no, a production run of a CAF 4000 as a repainted 170 (very close but not entirely correct) would need to retail at £150 to make it (barely) financially viable. A 4000 done as a perfect model eg full new mould etc would give you a model that out of £400 you would barely have enough change for the bus fare home. Manufacturing costs are eye watering. A 170 painted as a CAF 4000 would be possible but only if there was sufficient interest/demand
  5. No probs gents, The body off shot was more a case of fortunate timing than planning
  6. Evening mate, Shes one of only 10 ever produced, made about 8 years ago, both bogies powered and has full cab interior detailing.
  7. She and her two coaches currently reside at Belfast and County Down Miniature Railway oh and she shares the shed with two NIR hunslets
  8. Heres a very short video of here running, bit hard to hear the sound, ill get a better one filmed when the weather improves
  9. Been down and photographed RB3 to death for a future project, was made to feel more than welcome as always.
  10. Best livery they ever wore - ok so im slightly biased
  11. 111 was finished and kitted out, two passenger coaches with seating for a total of 12 people were also built. With the experience on 111 we made a few changes for 112 and she was built with detail in mind. Buying the shop has taken over every spare second of free time and 112 is currently still in the workshop as she has been for the last 4years. All that needs to be finished on her is some minor body detailing, finish building the bogies and then wire her. Hopefully ill find a bit of spare time in the next year or so to get her complete and out beside 111.
  12. About six years ago myself and a mate were having a coversation about how difficult it would be to build a big 071/111 loco, one big enough to pull passengers. After plenty of discussion we decided on one about 9ft long, electric powered, four motors, lights, airhorns, air brakes with brakes also charging the batteries when they are applied - oh and fitted with a fully functioning sound card. We reckoned as time allow we'd build two, one would be 111 in 1980s livery and 112 in current livery. Heres a few pics of the build process, everything was built from scratch, 111s windows were all hand cut and filed but it was such a hideous task we laser cut 112s
  13. Few shots of NIRs three GMs from a few years back. All photos taken with full permission from NIR
  14. yeah, considering planning a trip back with pre cut vinyls under arm
  15. Cheers, got a few others ill fire up on another thread
  16. Excuse the quality of the Cultra ones, the iphone really doesnt like the gallery lights
  17. Few shots from the not so distant past and more recently of 101 and 102 at York Road and 102 in Cultra All pics in York Road were taken with full permission from NIR
  18. Warbonnet Paddy was saying yesterday the side grill will be changed on the production model and will be thinner, main difference between the two samples is the black one is the early version with small marker lights, tablet catcher etc and the grey sample is later marker lights aerials etc
  19. Those were taken on the iphone so quality isnt great, will take plenty of pics tomorrow with proper camera and show the loco in more detail.
