Two Axel Coaches in Ireland?
Flying Snail replied to Auto-Train Original's topic in Photos & Videos of the Prototype
Indeed - and the WCIR 4-wheelers were famous ... as been the worst carriages in Ireland! I've found the two HMRS drawings but can't get any decent photos of WCIR carriages or wagons! -
Two Axel Coaches in Ireland?

Yes, drawings of a WCIR 4-wheeler exist! The HMRS can provide digital drawings for a Second Class Carraige built by the Metropolitan Railway Carriage & Wagon Company in 1878 - 4 Compartments, 14ft w/b, 25ft o/b https://hmrs.org.uk/hmrs-21237--second-class--4-compartments--14ft-w-b--25ft-o-b.html They also have drawings for a third class 6-wheeler -
Fingers crossed - it would be great to see them in GSR and GWSR liveries too. I've pre-ordered a few (well actually I've ordered a lot) to do my bit ... and no doubt Mrs. Snail will be delighted to hear that she's got my present for Christmas '23 sorted already!

Wanted/ Looking to buy Murphy,s 141, 181 or 071
Flying Snail replied to derek's topic in For Sale or Wanted
Its also worth noting that Murphy Models announced a new run of 141/181s at the MRSI Raheny show recently -
Fabulous pictures @enniscorthyman. I particularly like that first one of Meadhbh and the Kildare layout - a place she would have often passed through!

Rails of Sheffield have a few 141/181s pre-owned on their website at the moment: https://railsofsheffield.com/search?q=Murphy Models However, if you're in the EU you'll get stung for duty/import charges -
Yes, agree - I presume thats the running number too. However, the four pack doesn't have any running numbers that I can see so I was wondering which carriages in that (if any) are duplicates This makes sense - think I'll email Hattons though and see what they say.
-
Well thats interesting. Not quite the WCIR triple packs I'm hoping for, but these are tempting Does anyone know if the carriages in the 4-pack are numbered differently to the carriages sold individually?

This is great news @Mayner. I have some of your existing wagons, including the GSR open, and I think they are already fine models that really showcase what 3D can achieve. And to think they'll get even more detailed with your new print supplier on board ... wow!

What a fabulous backdrop Cultra makes - great pictures!

I'm just guessing too - my logic was that earlier BREL stock would would have taken longer to refurb and would then have entered the IE fleet later (and received a higher number). -

Interesting question alright: if it is phase 1 and 2 perhaps that refers to the batch they were manufactured in originally in the UK? Just speculating because the Ph.1 have higher running numbers ... -

Great to see the progress thats being made: well done to you all. This is going to be something very special (it already is)!! -
I'll second the cafe recommendation - I had the barmbrack because of the weekend thats in it - I didn't get the ring or the coin but my wallet was convinced I got the oul rag after I came away from the stands with all my goodies! Thoroughly enjoyed the day - had as much fun chatting with the exhibitors as I had watching the excellent exhibits!
-
Are there any/many of the stands not taking card payments? Just wondering if I need to bring my piggy bank tomorrow or if I can max out herself's credit card instead

Flying Snail replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
Heading to Raheny tomorrow - really looking forward to it. Now that the announcements have been made, what are we able to drool over at the IRM stand by way of samples etc for the ICRs and Mark 2 Bs & Cs? -

Did some Dub tell you to get a Dart to Palmerstown??? They're always up to mischief -
My 13th post and all - unlucky for some (someone in Hattons that is)

Just spotted the 42' flats and containers are up on Hattons: https://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/3156807/0/irish_railway_models/mfrnest Correct me if I'm wrong but I I think its the first time they've carried IRM wagons? (I know they already carry Accurascale). Might be handy for some in the UK and around Liverpool

Nobody ever expected the 'Dicky' Taras -
Oh absolutely, and there's an awful lot of those gentlemen on this forum, including your good self - I was a bit clumsy with my choice of words there so apologies. I should have said 'anyone' instead of 'everyone': there are plenty of good guys (and gals) out there and I didn't mean to imply otherwise
-
Brilliant news - sorry for you and everyone else thats been driven to fork out so much recently, but its great news for newcomers like me especially. Mind you, I think the earlier runs will still be able to command decent money too
