  1. Everything is back to normal for the evening peak. Some trains are ICR instead of MKIV and vice versa as a result of set switches at Heuston, but the main thing is they are on time. As for the 071's. I haven't heard anything at all. As the saying goes they be ready when they are ready.
  2. Trains were delayed by up to +140 minutes due to the failure of signalling equipment. The 09.00, 10.00, 11.00 Heuston - Cork's all terminated at Mallow to form their scheduled return service. These were delayed between +60 & +120 minutes. Up road the first train to be affected was the 07.00 Tralee - Heuston which was noted passing Laois Depot just under +120 minutes late. Other Cork services delayed were the 09.20, 10.20, 11.20 ,12.20 & 13.20 ex Cork and these were delayed between +140 & +15 minutes. The 12.20, 13.20 & 14.20 started ex Mallow. A day of fun and games.

  4. .... 5 years ago. 20th March 2008: - 192 misbehaved while on the Heuston Pilot and had to be rescued by 211. http://smu.gs/YGKkxz - A laden timber train from Inchicore to North Wall! The North Wall - Waterford timber got into difficulty and was turned back at Inchicore thus giving the rare sight of a laden timber train heading into the Phoenix Park Tunnel. http://smu.gs/YGKC7q 192, 211 or the Timber Train are no longer daily sights at Heuston. 12. No problem!! I seem to be getting fond of the idea of going from A to B, via C. This morning I needed to be in Dublin and with some time to kill after the early morning duties I decided to get the 0735 Heuston - Galway (22048) to Tullamore and then wait the 17 minutes for the 0730 Galway - Heuston (22034), which had a sizeable amount of custom boarding in Tullamore. http://smu.gs/Z3C1O5 The Wanderer.
  13. No problem Hidden Agenda. Evening folks, It's turning into busy week so far. Today was no different. The Container Pocket Wagons (CPW's) have been receiving maintenance at Limerick Wagon Works in preparation for the DFDS Liner returning to the railway. The train is planned to operate twice a week each way using the CPW's thus taking them over new ground between Cherryville Jct. and Waterford. The service is scheduled to start in the first week of March. In advance of this the wagons were transferred as the 0910 Limerick - Ballina via Portarlington on Wednesday 27th February 2013. 075 provided the traction and the train is pictured passing Geashill, Co. Offally. http://smu.gs/YZZ9gs The Wanderer.

  21. 077 was only released from the paint shop today so who ever said they saw it last week is telling porkies. The Austerity livery. Cheap and cheerful to maintain.
  22. 4003 has returned to traffic following overhaul and repainting. It is also the first vehicle to carry the new Iarnrod Eireann Irish Rail logo. I photographed it at Rosskelton earlier today on the 1200 to Cork and later that evening at Heuston prior to departure at 1900 for Cork. The pictures may be viewed at: I also seen pictures of 077 today in its new slate grey livery. Interesting is all I shall say. The Wanderer.
