Good morning all, Pictures from the first day of my current UK trip which started yesterday. I travelled from Dublin on the 0215hrs Stena Nordica sailing to Holyhead from where I travelled onwards to Altrincham via Chester. I spent the rest of the day exploring the Manchester Metrolink system including the new branches to East Didsbury, Rochdale and Droylsden. IE Mark 3's had silver window frames....however there is always an exception! Three coaches were badly graffitied at Waterford during the Christmas Shutdown of 2006 which resulted in them being repainted on one side, with black window frames. The All Ireland Hurling Final Replay between Cork and Clare took place in Dublin's Croke Park on Saturday 28th September. In additional to the regular scheduled services ,Iarnrod Eireann operated two specials from Cork at 0905 (MKIV) and 1000 (6 + 3 ICR). One Special operated from Ennis to Heuston (6ICR) at 1040hrs. Like previous occasions the Clare G.A.A. chartered a train from Limerick to Heuston, departing at 1200hrs and 22020 operated this service. Finally the 1045 and 1145 Limerick - Limerick Jct. service were both extended to Dublin Heuston. The 1145 service was operated by a 4 car 2800 Class. Evening Folks, Friday evening pictures from Portlaoise, Heuston & Sallins. I was lucky at Sallins to catch the R.T.E. Big Music Train (22046) going from Laois Train Care Depot to Inchicore for internal fitting out over the weekend by R.T.E. before its grand tour of the country next week. The unit has spent the last week at Laois Train Care in preparation for its grand tour next week. It's the 3rd weekend in September, which can only mean one thing. It's the G.A.A. All Ireland Football Final in Dublin's Croke Park. Today, Dublin take on Mayo for the Sam Maguire Cup. Iarnrod Eireann operated Four Specials from Co. Mayo (2 ex Westport, 1 ex Ballina & 1 ex Claremorris) to Dublin to take supporters to the final. Over 250,000 people turned out in Dublin City today for Flightfest. This was a truly historic event involving more than 30 aircraft flying at low level following the path of the Liffey right through the centre of Dublin. Each Aircraft undertook either two or three flypasts along the River to keep the crowds entertained. I was positioned at Poolbeg for 3 hour flypast and my photos are now online at Enjoy! Evening all, A rather busy weekend just gone with photos from both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday 7th September the Irish Railway Records Society organised a outing from Dublin to Portrush & Derry using regular scheduled trains. A visit to the Foyle Valley Museum was also included in the trip. After travelling to Derry on the Saturday with the I.R.R.S. I stayed in the West Dublin area on the Saturday night which allowed me to visit "The Gullet" outside Heuston Station on the Sunday morning for the G.A.A. Specials from Cork, Limerick, Ennis, Waterford and Galway. 2 All of the photos are now online at The trip to Derry is in the "I.R.R.S. Outing to Derry & Foyle Valley Railway Museum" & the G.A.A. The RPSI travelled back to 1991 today as their Cravens set was in Boyle for filming of the Sky TV series Moone Boy. The train, hauled by 072 went to Boyle on Wednesday and stabled overnight. Filming took place on the Thursday morning and the train went back to Connolly as a 1205 empty from Boyle.
